I was wondering - was there ever a serious iconographic trend within Catholicism? I’ve been getting into iconography a lot lately, but all the examples seem to be Eastern.
There is a gifted Iconographer ( A Franciscan priest) in Taos New Mexico, and a woman iconographer at Ballintubber Abbey in the West of Ireland.
There are many others,
There is also an American Association of Iconographers.
Four ladies that I know personally have gone on an icon-writing retreat. Two of them go every year since they started. One of them gave a talk about it, bringing many icons she wrote with her. I learned a lot about it that I had not known before. Fascinating and very meaningful!
