TAKE THE QUIZ!!! DID YOUR ANSWER CHANGE!!! What kind of Catholic are you?
This is cool quiz, I’ve always wanted to know if I was really traditionalist or just neo traditionalist.
I scored a 75. Neo-traditionalist

well, i said i was a conservative catholic before i even looked at this thread, and so i guess thats what a neo traditional catholic would be… which is exactly what i scored.

I got a 92. That makes me a traditionalist according to beliefnet:thumbsup:

What Kind of Catholic Are You?

You scored 83, on a scale of 0 to 100. Here’s how to interpret your score:
0 - 30
You are a “recovering” Catholic.
30 - 50
You are a progressive Catholic.
50 - 70
You are a liberal Catholic.
70 - 80
You are a neo-traditionalist Catholic.
**80 - 100
You are a traditionalist Catholic. **

I don’t feel like a traditionalist…

Yeah, I felt like the orthodox answer on most questions was made out to be an extreme on one side. They should have had questions like “I believe we have an anti-pope” or the new Mass is invalid or some of that bunk to balance out the liberal bunk. Then the orthodox answer should have been the “middle ground” answer.

Neat survey, though in a few cases I found it hard to answer, but picked the “closest” answer.

I feel I lean towards traditionalism a little.

Here is more about “me”:
About "me":
You are a traditionalist Catholic

You wish the church would revive the time-honored customs and strong institutional discipline that prevailed before the Second Vatican Council. …
I’m ok with that.
About "me":
…Your favorite hymn is probably “Immaculate Mary,” …
Actually, can’t say I know it. But I guess I must like it! 😉
About "me":
…your favorite pope is Pius X, …
Haven’t thought much about who is my favorite Pope, but he was pertty strong.
About "me":
…and your idea of a great Catholic movie is “The Bells of St. Mary’s.”
Haven’t seen it. Maybe I should.🙂
neo-traditionalist:
You are a neo-traditionalist Catholic
Vatican II was just fine, as far as you’re concerned–but you wish church liberals would stop pushing for still more changes. Your favorite hymn is “Gift of Finest Wheat,” your favorite pope is John Paul II, and you think Mel Gibson makes some good points about religion and family.
I do not feel Vat. II is in itself the source of all our problems, but “the Spirit of Vat. II” sure is. They really need a category in between Trad and neo-Trad to capture this.

Cannot place “Gift of Finest Wheat”, may have sung it, doubt it is my favorite. I cannot say JPII is my favorite Pope, but I feel great affection for him. I liked “The Passion”, and hope that Mel Gibson is not sedevanticist.

You scored 90, on a scale of 0 to 100.

I am a traditionalist according to the test.

You know, after looking at the “neo-traditionalis” explination, I’d rather be that. HOW DID I END UP BEING A TRADITIONALIST?!!! I DON’T EVEN KNOW WHO PIUX X IS, ALL THINGS CONSIDERED!!! (No need for links, really.)

88!

Not bad for a Byzantine Catholic! 😛

…your favorite pope is Pius X…
Pfff, that’s nothing. Mine is Pius IX. Now that is traditionalist!

The SSPX couldn’t choose him for their society, though, because he was THE poster-boy for ultramontanism—the pope is in charge, no ifs, ands, or buts. That wouldn’t fly to well with a group whose whole existence is predicated on disobeying the pope.

Surprised!!! 😉 With all the very traditionalists here, I thought I would score as liberal. Instead, I’m neo-trad. :tiphat:

That test is bogus, I scored an 86, but when I hit the back button I changed the second to last question to “abolish the papacy” and it reduced my score to 83! Still a traditionalist!

Also if I were to bet the meat on non lent friday is where everyone lost points.

Peace be with you!

I scored 88 too! There were some that I could have chosen more than one answer…like the music question. I like Latin and classical vernacular hymns.

That test was absolutely horrid!!! They made it seem as though if you were a “traditional Catholic” that you were a bit extreme. And it totally bummed me out that they made it seem as though traditionalists think that Vat. II was a negative event. I mean, come on!

I agree with some of you other people in saying that you wished you had scored “neo traditional”. But I scored 90. Blah.

That was ridiculous. The person who made up the quiz was not…I am not sure how to decribe it. You probably get me drift anyway.

I came out at 92—a traditionalist. Frankly, though, I often didn’t like the answers I had to choose from (particularly on prayer—I use formal prayers as well as my own words, as I suspect many faithful Catholics do, so why this artificial either/or?), and I describe myself as a faithful Catholic.

YES!!! I didn’t like the “either/or” mentality of that test. I didn’t know what to answer for the “I believe Jesus Christ…” And “B” was “All the same as above, but, with Mary, who is the co-redemtrix for our sins” or something like that. I’m like, “Wait. Wait. PART of that is true…” Also, I haven’t been around long enough to know what it was like PRIOR to Vat II and I haven’t much studied it, just know what people have said about it. Originally I wasn’t going to get scored because I didn’t answer all the questions, so I had to go back & answer that one.

PureGrace: Copesetic with Catholic doctrine? I mean, anybody who would set up the test like that, with such a hardline b&w view isn’t looking at things objectively. The answers supplied were really lousy. 😦

Catholic Dude: You know the meatless Friday thing is still in effect, right? I’m not harping on you, but, I didn’t find out until this year & I’ve been spreading the word on this one…
