Just finished watching “Meet the Press” as David Gregory, a professed Catholic, hammered Sen. Santorum on his faith and moral stands that he is not ashamed to make public. Gregory even played a clip of President Kennedy’s “i am not a Papist” speech to insinuate that Santorum should leave his faith and morals out of the election debate.
David Gregory, Chis Matthews, Kathleen Sebilius, Nancy Pelosi, et al love to profess their Catholic upbringing and Faith, when it suits them, but fail to show any shred of Faithful Obedience of Catholic teaching when it comes to societal issues.
Is anyone else as sick and tired of these Catholic in name only types putting a secular face on Catholicism as i am? When did we become so afraid to wear our Faith openly? Why did we allow ourselves to be defined by the deserters?

You should realise that these people are trying to get elected and if that means telling people they are Catholics while being pro choice then they would do it.

I’m reminded what my Pastor told me once when I was in Sunday school.

Do not put your faith in people for they are human and prone to sin. Rather put your faith in the one who was perfect and without sin.👍

I’m not sure about this guy. Rick Santorum is a wonderful Catholic. He is pro-life to the core, he’s anti-gay marriage, he knows his faith well, he has a wonderful family of seven children (Or is it six?), and he adheres to the faith on just about every issue. The only problem he has that goes against what the Church says is the war, but that’s it. He sometimes speaks at the Midwest Catholic Family Conference and at other Catholic Conferences, and he’s a wonderful speaker on the Faith.

What a good example 🤷, we saw what happened when Kennedy left his faith and morals at the door of the White House when he became President!

Religion and Politics do not mix.

This is my major issue with him. And yes he has seven living children, he has one that was stillborn.

They are mixed.

Look at the HHS issue in the US, the rampant secularism in the UK, the rise of militant Islam throughout the world etc., etc.

“When did we become so afraid to wear our Faith openly?” you asked.

When the government tied “tax relief” to churches, but demanded it at the expense of separation of church and state, which in the governments definition is to NOT preach or teach any religion based dogma from the pulpit that is conradictory to the governments professed dogma’s or doctrines.

Talk about the minority whipping the majority.

As long as Catholic Bishops accept the dictates of the “State” over the professed teaching of JESUS “give to Ceasers what is ceasers and to GOD what is GOD’s” - and pay the taxes AND teach the truth from the pulpit, then we will continue to suffer abortion and allow the tail of government to wag the 80% US Population that is Catholic.

So what if we lose our churches and go back to home based churches, the Truth will recover our Nation, and eventually recover our tax abatement, but not without suffering and that is what the Bishops need to embrace, the suffering to be imposed by stepping out and giving to GOD, what is GOD’s - the TRUTH.

I totally agree. There’s a quote by a pope, but I can’t recall who, that says that 99% (or something close) of today’s problems are due to luke warm Catholics. These examples, especially Pelosi, might be stretching the boundaries of reason to call them even luke warm.

While I believe that the RCC does not wear a donkey or elephant pin on their vestments nor should they, it is critical in today’s time that the ideas professed about the church are true. The grave problem is that other “pew sitters” or even people discerning the faith might be confused or put off to the truth if they listen to these people. What it all boils down to is that souls are at stake. The Catholic church should come down hard people in the public light that have gone directly against the church. In whatever that may entail but it would have to be public so that the world knows these politicians do not speak for the church.

As for Santorum, he’s the only logical choice for me… Until he isn’t.

As an evangelical and from Pa I would have no issue voting for Santurum. This nation went off track back in the 60’s, I still remember is God Dead commercials. There is no way by running on a christian belief in the platform will they garner the votes to even turn that direction. To be honest I don’t think it can be done apart from Romey because in these times you have to take what you can get…Be thankful he even got that far in this world today…Don’t nit pic unless you have walked in His shoes…He moves according to How the Lord is working in His life and will be accountable for that. I think Santurum is a world apart from the others mentioned. He has evangelical votes just for his faith values.

I watched Santorum today with George Stephenopolous on “This Week.” I have never seen such a beautiful display of sticking with his principles as Santorum demonstrated. Never did he back down, even though Stephenopolous attempted to ridicule him. He’s my choice.

The irony today they ripped him on that…The difference between the light and darkness is blatantly obvious today.

I am. They mislead people on what the Catholic faith is about, and they fail to use their opportunities to stand up for what they claim are their beliefs. If they are not going to stand up for their faith, they fail.

I attended a large men’s conference at the Detroit Mercy Field house a few years ago where then Senator Santorum gave a deeply reflective, authentically Catholic, and spiritually rousing speech. I remember thinking to myself, this guy ought to run for the presidency. I don’t think the GOP machine is too crazy about him winning the candidacy, but hey, nothing is impossible with God. If it’s in the divine plan, it will happen, with, or without our consent.

Did Kennedy really say that? I was never a fan of his…

I don’t know about that, but when he went to meet the Pope, he did not kneel and kiss his ring, but rather shook his hand, as a non-Catholic would do. 😦

I think the way Kennedy lived out his faith personally is a world apart from how Santurum lives his…It’s ALL about “knowing” Jesus and living out His will in all our word and deed. You can do that with in family/friends realm but when you govern you have to work with in the “world” agenda…Things are FAR different than say the 50’s where roe-Wade would have been unthinkable… You just can’t roll back the clock, you have to lead towards.

Sorry but I have to chime in here - I’m a conservative from Pennsylvania and have had more than a few interactions with Rick Santorum - and I will never vote for that man for anything.

He claims to be pro-life, yet campaigns for pro-abortion politicians when it suits his political career. He votes for massive government intrusion in health care (Medicare Part D) while criticizing others for doing the same. He endorses Mitt Romney and calls him a conservative (in 2008) when it suits him politically and then reverses his position later to fit his own political aspirations.

I have known many, many politicians, and I have never met a politician as arrogant as Santorum. It is this arrogance that leads him to believe that he can betray all of his core principles time after time to advance his own career while still hoping to retain his reputation.

This is a man that talks the talk better and more boldly than probably anyone out there, but he he fails repeatedly to walk the walk.

Just my $.02.

Luke warm Catholics won’t be around after the coming persecution.

God is starting to bless America with a persecution to weed out all the luke-warm and leave only devout - God centered Christians remaining. These individuals will go out and re-evangelize the world.

God Bless,

James
