I am a simple man and reading all this; one thing seems strange to me. One one hand you are saying most if not all protestants are wrong and all the Catholics are wrong and we should all just leave our churches and join the true churcg of Christ. Out of interest where exactly is it? has it a name ? how do we find the other members? what you say is all very vague :confused::confused:
Who is saying this?

Who is saying this?

Gotcha, thanks.

I’ll offer a quick response to your question.

Roughly, you asked the following: Can I explain how the Catholic Church, if it was the church established by Christ as it claims to be, could possibly “backslide” when Jesus made several promises about His Church?

As for the promises: Christ has and will keep every one of those promises as they are properly understood. First, he promised His Spirit to guide the apostles into all truth. They deposited that truth to us in the sacred Scriptures and in their oral teachings in the apostolic age. **Wicked men, however, are capable of wresting the Scriptures, and so, when wicked men gain the ascendancy in the church, it backslides.
**
Second, the church has the power to bind and loose insofar as it exercises ecclesiastical discipline, resolves theological controversies through authoritative judgments, etc. When it does this in accordance with the truth, then its decisions and acts are bound in heaven.

–Dan
You contradict yourself, or actually, deceive.

Jesus said He will always be with His Church - always means from the beginning until now and until the end of this present world and beyond. Second He said He would send the Holy Spirit to sustain His Church in all truth. To sustain it ALWAYS in truth - with NO qualifications given. The Church has the keys and the bindings, forever, because contrary to what you say, and in line with what Jesus said, the Church ALWAYS has the truth so there is never a time when it is not authoritative.

You are going in circles like a poor dog chasing its tail - you are saying it would be true that it is always authoritative as long as it is always authoritatively teaching [which it is , and does - it can never not be authoritative by definition from what Jesus said] so then IT IS ALWAYS AUTHORITATIVE.

In other words, you are saying it would be true that it is always authoritative as long as it was never not authoritative [and it is never not authoritative, by definition based on what Jesus who is God said and promised about it, no matter the nature - how ‘good’ or ‘bad’ - of the Pope or any bishops] , so then it is true that it is always authoritative. No wicked man can ascend to the papacy and change the teachings of His Church on faith and morals, period. Why? Because God said so, and He said He alone sustains (keeps it forever) in all truth.

And anybody who says the Pope is the antichrist, is in bed with Satan, whether they know it, or not. No Catholic should read any book saying such a hideous thing. Is your last name Chick?

Your deception in trying to come off as a ‘friend of the Catholics’ is also despicable, too.

God bless you.

Bellarmine Theological Forum has a great study bible called The Apocalypse of St John. It is the most thorough, detailed, line by line exegesis you will find of the Catholic interpretation of Revelation from the Church Fathers and Magesterium. They are located at www.catholicintl.com
I went to this site, kind of excited, and found nothing on the subject you mentioned…is it a link within a link??? thanks:(

Go to store, then books, then study bible and you will see various wonderful study bibles along with the Apocalypse of St John. I also think I have the correct link here: catholicintl.co.cc/catholicintl/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=4
Thank you. I am also on another site, and this will help. Jehovah Witnesses seem to have a very different approach to the Book of Revelation, and it has been getting confusing…

Thanx again!

Why on earth are you involved with the JW’s? Here’s a tip for you to avoid all the confusion. Get rid of the JW stuff. They do not teach truth. They never did and never will. At the very least you are wasting your time and jeopardizing your salvation. Get out now.

That is very good advice.

I have the Michael Barber book and it is fantastic. I have also read the Lamb’s Supper by Scott Hahn, another great book
