Many years ago I received a New American bible as a gift for my Confirmation. I have kept that and love it and love reading it. However recently I wanted a bible to make notes in and I did not write in that bible. I have discovered the art of bible journaling and journaling bibles. I purchased this NKJV journaling bible and have be writing in it while reading the Gospels.

amazon.com/Journaling-Bible%C2%AE-Holman-Bible-Staff/dp/1433691582/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1443797826&sr=8-1&keywords=NKJV+journaling+bible

I love bible journaling and it has helped me understand and relate the word of God back to my life and quite frankly it is enjoyable. I am going on a retreat soon and would like to get one just for that retreat. However most of the Journaling and Wide margin bibles i find on amazon are versions that aren’t the catholic approve versions and have books omitted. The New American always has and always will be my main bible but I don’t mind reading some of the other versions and love the Old English of the original KJV. However, on my retreat I am sure that they will want me to use a bible like the NAB version and I cant find a journaling version of it on amazon. Where can I get one or is there another version Journaling Bible on amazon that is accepted by the church. Is The NASB approved I found It.

Thanks

AF

The NASB is an approved version, but I believe that it is a protestant version, so it will only have 66 books instead of 73 like a Catholic version would.

That means it’s not an approved Bible then.

OP, if you find one, please post link.

I don’t know of one offhand (which doesn’t mean one does not exist), but any Bible can be a journaling Bible if you write small enough. :o That’s what I do. But I don’t write at length in my Bible, just little snippets here and there.

Some Protestant Bibles come with what they call the Apocrypha. Those are the Deuterocanonical books, which are those the Protestants leave out for a 66-book Bible.

I don’t use a “Journaling Bible.” However when I had a Spiritual Advisor, he taught me to use Scriptura Divina for journaling. Scriptura Divina is a time honored way of meditating on Scripture throughout the day and has been used by monks throughout the centuries. What my Spiritual Advisor recommended was taking the Scriptural passage as the first line of my daily journal as using it as the starting point of my daily journal. I have always just copied the scripture passage into my journal.
Of course I have taken Catholic courses such that include scriptural passages as parts of questions requiring reflection. I just haven’t seen a Journaling Bible per se.
The best option might be a Catholic Study Bible with lots of white space on the outside. These are usually large NAB paperback editions.
