I posted this in wrong forum, do - over!
As a convert I’m always finding out something new, the ‘nuances’ of our Faith, I guess you could say. I thought this was interesting, as I until recently was unaware of such a ‘tradition’ (small T, please note!) in the Church of this, as quoted from the CNA article, w/ link below:
“Catholics have a responsibility to vote with aan informed conscience, formed by the Gospel,’ rather than from “habit or tradition,” the report said.”
Why, in easy to understand terms, has the Church been historically more “democrat” or liberal than “republican” or conservative in the United States? And is this voter guide significant in that it is addressing that as referenced above? I stopped reading a lot of Catholic authored blogs mainly due to what seemed to be a lobbying sort of tone in them, which inevitably turns into cyber arguing which in turn gives me indigestion. Any thoughts/understanding of this? Thank you!
