Hello- I’m trying to find a temporary live in housekeeper and was wondering if anyone knows of a good agency or individual. I’d love to hire a good Catholic who is perhaps just between jobs, who is professional and hard working, with great references. We live in the midwest on a hobby farm, and will need help for 2-8 weeks. Please direct me to any resources you may know about. Thank you!!

Care.com might be a good place to start. They tend to lean towards more nannies and babysitters, but if childcare isn’t part of the deal you still might find someone willing there. Most people seeking employment on that website have background checks and clearances you can access (I think almost all, really, but I can’t remember if it’s mandated or not). Profiles also list spaces for references and there are reviews from other clients on the website.

Call St. Vincent de Paul. They have people in parishes who are working with families to secure side income.

You may try contacting a Catholic Home Care Agency if one is available in your area. They will be able to direct in finding Catholic housekeeping services.

Or ask him for permission to run a small ad for the position in the weekly bulletin; someone might know someone.

If you have a university near you, try contacting the priest at the Neumann (sp?) center. There might be a college student who is very active in their faith who could use a place to stay in exchange for housekeeping duties. Just be very sure to detail IN WRITING what is expected from them and what you expect to provide.
