My nephew was raised Catholic, but is being married outside to the church. I’d like to include a booklet in our gift that may spark interest in sacramentalizing their marriage. Any suggestions?

The word you’re looking for is convalidating, not sacramentalizing.

He may interpret this badly. I wouldn’t do it.
I agree.

My sister and BIL are both Catholic and both adore Catholic heritage and tradition (they have taken up using Italian saint names for their sons).

Yet, they were not married in the Church and managed to find a Catholic church that couldn’t have cared less about their marital state to baptize their son anyway.

All it would take is a convalidation ceremony and their marriage would be recognized as valid.

But, I know even mentioning the fact that their marriage isn’t valid would NOT go over well at all.

They just aren’t there yet in terms of what the Church teaches and why. They’ve got a long way to go.

We pray for them every single night and try to be the best examples we can when it comes to being Catholic.

They know where we stand and are very respectful of it.
