I was cradle Catholic but left church when went to college. I married a baptist in 1975 and divorced in 85. I married again in 1986 by a Justice of the Peace in 86. Second wife has passed away. Have returned as a practicing Catholic(actually during second marriage). If I were to marry again would I need an annulment from first marriage? I read something about a Nov. 26 1983(1983 code) date making the first marriage null anyway. Is that correct?

Catholics are obligated to follow canonical forum when marrying. That means that if a Catholic marries outside the Church (without permission) then the marriage is automatically invalid. You will need to show civil paperwork that shows the marriage took place in a civil setting and that there is a valid divorce decree.
