As for the orientation, the actual focus of the Mass is on the Altar, so technically they are both facing and worshiping Christ right there before them in either orientation. Priest and people, regardless of the direction, are still facing God. The crucifix is not our focus or worship, nor is the Tabernacle, for that matter.

They inspired me to do a search in CAF for this topic, and I found many out there with lots of excellent pro and con arguments for facing either direction.

Perhaps we should keep this to just memes though, so as not to take it off topic. 😉
