I think that Linus thinks you made the Gangnam spoof? There seems to be a lot of mixed-posting and what not. I don’t know how the Liturgical spoon meme would make lots of enemies and is highly offensive. Or maybe I’m the one who’s lost? 🤷
I was confused too about the “awesome” liturgical spoon spoon being gravely offensive.

call me crazy, but the Gangnam style meme isn’t that offensive. It’s not like it was filmed during mass! Lots of young people like to change the lyrics of popular songs to be about God… it’s kind of a way to celebrate Him! They weren’t singing this in mass or anything!
Another few examples:

there are thousands more. I think they’re actually a good thing! They show that the kids are thinking about God when they’re goofing around with friends!

THis one is based on the skit from the movie theater with Yvonne (I think originally from SNL) youtube.com/watch?v=0LYLFf4kQ2o&feature=related

So guys, what do you think of the one that I made about His Beatitude? :3

Lighten up, Guys. I don’t think anyone is intentionally being sacrilegious.

That is one thing that sets Catholics apart from many Protestants - we can LAUGH at ourselves!!!

(and drink wine)

LOL

I love these - I have the Transubstantiation one as my avatar here.

And the Korean Church video “Sungdang Style” was so funny! I love the line of dancers with the nun on one end!!

And, we use memes to evangelize. :3
Which reminds me, I should try to improve my bishonen patriarch memes. o:

I’ve read over this topic and I think that the disconnect for some people is between Dawkins’ idea of memetics and the contemporary usage of the word “meme”. So where people think “Catholic memes” are in line with Dawkins’ ideas, it’s more along the line of using image macros for humour like the rest of the Internet memes. As a subset, a lot of the “motivational posters” are actually parodies and satires of actual motivational posters which, in Internet memes, are called demotivational posters.

For example, the usage of the Internet meme “Bad Luck Brian” in a Catholic context would be as such, compared to the usual Internet usage that follows (the oiginal):

In a Catholic context
