Hello

I was raised a Catholic, didn’t take it seriously because no proof and then I became depressed and had no option but turn to God. I am now following Catholicism after seeing many miracles with scientific evidence after researching hard to see if any religion had any proof.

I am starting to think though  Has anyone wondered if evil spirits are trying to trick us into being Catholics with these miracles? Sure we have miracles like the Lanciano miracle as ‘proof’ that JC was crucified and it was true what He was saying, but could it be a conspiracy to lead us from Islam or Judaism? 🙂

Aye curamba! My head is thinking a lot  This is confusing. You have many religions saying that you go to hell if you don’t follow the right one 🙂 I did not ask to be created but now I am and I am told that i will go to Hell if I pick the wrong one 🙂 I will only go to heaven through Jesus or I will only go to heaven if I say that Muhammed is the last messenger or I will go to Hell for not being a Jew 👍 This is a puzzle that we must work out! Retards go to Hell! lol

Basically, Catholicism is the true religion or we are being tricked by these spirits and miracles. What do you say? Go with Catholicism as a safe bet? I mean, if I am not a Catholic then it is like 50/50 between Islam and Judaism. If Catholicism is definitely right or wrong, with the strong spiritual forces within it, then it is a 50/50 chance that I am right or wrong by going with Catholcism or not because we are either being tricked into it or it is the real mcoy 😉

Any thoughts? 😛

In Fr. O’Malley’s book, “Choosing to be Catholic,” he says that all religions show us different things about God.

The Catechism talks about “baptism by desire” for non-believers to be saved.

I’m just as confused as you are.

the bible tells us, see St. Paul, that we must discern spirits and spiritual things. Who is “we?” To whom did Christ give the authority to make that discernment and judgement? To his Church. We submit all such messages, apparitions, locutions, miracles etc. to the Church for investigation and judgement. Jesus promised that the Holy Spirit himself guides and protects the Church when she makes those pronouncements, so we can trust her when she says “this is a miracle” or “this is not of heavenly origin.”

It all comes down to believing in Jesus. Do you believe he is God, that he came down from heaven and that he died to save us? Jesus wanted us to believe that he was God based on his testimony, but he did say that if we had trouble with that we could believe because of the works (miracles) that he did. (John 14:11)

So if you believe Jesus - then you believe the Church he founded on Peter - (Matt 16:18)

The Church has endured for 2,000 years and in that time has produced many holy men and women. Jesus told us to judge a tree by its fruit (Luke 6:43-44). The fruit of our Church proves we are Christ’s.

You might also grab a copy of the Catechism of the Catholic Church and look up “Four Marks”. Those are the four signs that we are Christ’s church.

HI Dylan,

I know what you mean, but try to put your mind at rest. God has lead you to Catholicism, so try to simply trust Him. If you someday find out you made a mistake, - then the mistake was done through ignorance, not malice. Making a mistake is not a sin if your intention was to follow the truth, which it clearly is here.

However, I VERY highly doubt that these miracles were done by evil spirits. Because it’s not just the miracles… consider the lives of the Saints, and how God transformed them. What defined them was not even the miracles they did, but how much they loved, how they gave joy to others. Can the devil do this? Think about Mother Teresa, or St Padre Pio, who helped so many and healed so many - he did this through miracles, but his life very clearly shows the love of God and much virtue. Jesus said, good fruit, good tree, right? 🙂 In Catholicism, we can see miracles, and also faith, love, joy, peace, - etc - in those who lived the religion to the fullest. That shows it is from God.

God bless

Dylan-
genuine religion, genuine miracles, genuine faith will always give glory to God.
What does the Lord require of thee? Do Justice, love Mercy, Walk humbly with thy God. (Micah 6:8)
By their fruits, you shall know them (Matt 7:16)
What fruits do you see in each of the three monotheistic religions?

Judaism and Islam are both “right” to the extent that they worship the One God. They are in error to the extent that they reject His Anointed.

God will not abandon His promises to Abraham. Therefore the Jews and Muslims are still, somehow, part of His plan. But His only-begotten Son has given the authority given to Him by His Father to His Apostles to adminster His flock. He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. Do not be tricked into leaving His flock.

Hehe 🙂 I was just thinking that maybe some evil spirits are trying to get us to see what we want to see so we are Catholics and not Muslims, as Musilms say that non-Muslims will go to Hell haha 🙂

Well, if we say that the Jewish religion is right and Jesus was not who He said He was going by the theory that He was an evil force, because He must be either a strong or evil force and not just human if you have the Lanciano miracle and the rest, then where are the miracles in Judaism? So I think that I can cross them off the list.

Now that just leaves me with Islam and Catholicism haha 🙂 You have a lot of miracles behind Catholicism rather than Islam. Judaism is supposedly the foundation of Catholicism and Islam, so why do Muslims not keep the sabath by going to church every weekend? And why do they not have to get married in a church like Catholics? 🙂 I think that we can cross off Islam! 🙂

I am sticking with Catholicism and think that the proven miracles are good spirits at work 🙂 I am glad that I am not retarded 👍 I feel sorry for uneducated people who just follow everyone else, but maybe God will see good in the retards 😦

I am glad you have found miracles to be inspirational but the only miracles that should figure in the foundation of your faith should be those performed by Christ as related in the Gospels. Your faith is in a Person, Jesus Christ, or it is no faith at all.

Hi, please read this article 🙂
catholic-sacredart.com/ologs.htm
these are prophesies made by Our Lady, which came true.

one of them is:

“On December 8, 1634, the feast of the Immaculate Conception, three archangels and their Queen appeared to Mother Mariana. St. Gabriel was carrying a Ciborium filled with Hosts which Our Lady explained: “This signifies the Most August Sacrament of the Eucharist, which will be distributed by my Catholic priests to faithful Christians belonging to … See Morethe Holy Roman, Catholic and Apostolic Church, whose visible head is the Pope, the King of Christianity. His pontifical infallibility will be declared a dogma of the Faith by the same Pope chosen to proclaim the dogma of the Mystery of My Immaculate Conception. He will be persecuted and imprisoned in the Vatican by the unjust usurpation of the Pontifical States through the iniquity, envy and avarice of an earthly monarch.” This holy Pope was Blessed Pius IX, who fulfilled every prediction made by Our Lady. His body, being exhumed for beatification in 2000, was found miraculously preserved in the tomb where it had lain for more than a century. His face still showed a striking serenity in death.”

the devil can’t make true prophesies! I read that in the Old Testament, it says if a prophesy comes true, it is of God. 👍
