I think a truely Catholic society that really practiced the faith as it is taught and adhered to all the teachings of the Church would be great.

The problem is not in what the Church teaches but the fact that there are many folks who do not abide by the rules. There is nothing wrong with the principles or teachings of the Church. Folks who would break Catholic rules would just as easily break any other rules.

Unfortunately the idea of Hell or Purgatory is not an effective deterrent to someone willing to risk punishment in the afterlife to subvert the system in this life.

Where is this country that is 85% Catholic and has “legislated contraception?” And, what is “legislated contraception?”

Then you are not?

Either you are or you are not. It seems you are trying to ride both sides of that statement. First you make a claim that God was using you as a prophet, then you claim not.

Am I the only one confused here???
You are confusing your self let yesterday go I don’t think that this thread is about that, the thread started off on another vain, thank you.

wcknight from your point.

I think that this is a world wide problem with almost every spiritual or political medical areaner being nitpicked byu those who think that they have a better way or idea.

God bless
littleone.

In my original post, I was refering to the Philippines, with 85 Million population and 85% is considered catholic. There is a pending House Bill in Congress that will, among others, make ABC the official tool for population control. But I’m not only making a point specific to this country. The point I am raising is almost the same as in other western countries, including the US: Catholic teachings are slowly being dismissed by political commentarists in their search for solutions to the ills of the society in general.

So what is “legislated contraception?”
Sorry, I’m relatively a newby in this type of forum. Are you asking me to to look it up for you or are you asking me why contraception is a subject in the political arena of any society? or what?

“legislated contraception?”

Is a term I am completely unfamiliar with.
I have googled it, but it does not seem to have an iron clad meaning, but instead appears to be a term people are using to describe a range of circumstance.

So it would be difficult to make any type of judgement call at all without knowing your intended meaning.

By “legislated contraception” we mean any law or provision therein passed by congress or any law-making body in a given country recommending or encouraging the use of a particular birth control method (usually artificial) with all the government fundings and promotional programs in order to make such law implementable. In some countries, the law is clearly enacted to bring the population down while in other wealthier countires the law provides legal protection to those who would like to avail of abortion and other means to stop/prevent pregnancy which are patently immoral from Catholic view made perfectly legal by law-makers (as in the US). I’m not a lawyer so my definition is just based on my readings, which prompted me to post my original comments, to begin with. The fact is, most of us in the western world have taken this for granted: what is legal is not always moral, but many have grown numb to the moral teachings of the church, thinking that morality has become irrelevantly inconvenient (or conveniently irrelevant, depending on one’s taste).
