Hello,

I used to wear a cross necklace everyday as a Protestant. At one point the chain got too tight (thats what you get from growing as an adolescent), so I stopped wearing the medal.

After this point, I have not really worn anything faithfully in the realm of jewelry. I have tried the brown scapular but never kept up with faithfully wearing it. I tried other medals, but just eventually did not continue wearing them.

So, I guess my question is, can anyone direct me to a nice necklace for a college aged guy to be able to wear and show my faith. I don’t know if I should go crucifix or Miraculous Medal or a saint medal or what. All I know is I do not have a fortune to dish out on this. I just wanted to get myself a small post-Christmas present to wear as I grow in my faith.

Any suggestions or links would be wonderful and a blessing,

God bless you all!

How about a St. Benedict medal crucifix? I have a smallish one on a black cord that I really like.

I wear a Miraculous Medal myself. Try it, it’s an amazing sacramental.

For a statement of your Catholic faith; you can’t go wrong with either a Crucifix or Miraculous Medal.

I got a cross from FIBO steel through amazon. The chain is a little small, but you can replace it.

Catholics should really make an effort to wear a crucifix when possible rather than a simple cross. IMHO

Ditto to that I wear one I also wear a Byzantine cross. For the most part I never take them off even when I shower

This one is cool; I like the beads. It’s a bit too masculine for me but I might wear it for the extra medals. :signofcross:

There is no reason to spend a ton. The neck chain can be steel (or a cord rather than the chain).

All Christians or Catholics in particular?

I may get a crucifix later on (when I have money), but when I was looking for a necklace I wanted something very plain.

Bruised Reed That is a very nice crucifix. I may just get that one.

A four way medal maybe, or a Jerusalem cross in wood looks striking and I think also crucifix of some sort would work for a young man

Catholics remember the passion and crucifixion un a special way. We have a large crucifix as the focal point in all the churches. It;s central to our thinking of salvation history. For many denominations, the wooden cross alone is as far as they go with symbols. They feel that the crucifix somehow denies the Resurrection. So, I 've always felt (my personal opinion) that Catholics should be glad to wear the crucifix. We don’t ever want to minimize His suffering, even in such a seemingly harmless sort of way.
Peace.

PS: Besides, exorcists don’t use a cross in their work, they use a crucifix. 😉
God bless you!

Agree. Without the Crucifix; there would be no Resurrection.🙂

Thank you for all your suggestions. I will have to order something soon. I may start wearing my scapular again, but I’m not sure.

Any other suggestions would be great!
