Hello there!

Well, it’s one interesting week for any Catholic News Media. And for our need to be well informed as well. That’s why I came up with this idea.

I had some trouble following a reliable source of media. For example, as shown in this thread, when I received all the news regarding the issues at the Vatican (I was disconnected for 12 days), I fell in anguish by reading such terrible reports coming from the local paper (a very much trusted paper back in Argentina).

Yet, just today, I decided to search for more information regarding the corresponsal to Rome from the paper. A woman married to an ex-jesuit priest. As it is. She always wrote about plots, assasinations regarding money, corruption, sex, gay, more scandal, etc. etc. etc. But she wrote it elegantly, not to appear as an attack on the Church. The thing is, she picked up yellow press from Italy and traduced it to spanish and sent it to the most prestigious paper back home. So yeah, really ashamed of that reporter.

Yet, time goes on and history is made every day.

So, I wan’t to follow the events at Vatican City, but I searched the web for any Catholic News Media and guess what. There are loads of them.

Thus, I propose you to enlighten me with the trusful sources for Catholic News, and I’ll post some of those which I had found.

I understand from what I read from Wikipedia that this is a progressive paper. That bishops asked faithful not to read this source. Yet, it is the one that looks more “professional”.

Catholic News Agency:

A mildly appealing website. No idea about it stance.

Catholic News Service:
catholicnews.com
This looks like a 90’s webpage. No idea about it’s stance too.

I sincerely don’t know how are American papers such as the WSJ, NYT or European ones are managing these current events.

Maybe you can enlighten me. Please do so.

I believe Catholic press; news papers or internet catholic news, must have a catholic ethical code - to be truthful - in reporting news of what is necessary in the field of Catholic journalism. I believe they have that and must be faithful to it.
I received subscribe mails from Zenit - the world seen from Rome. I hope what it says is truth. I think the editor must do his/her duty to make sure the news are not causing any contradictions.

I found another News Source:
Vatican Insider, from La Stampa newspaper in Italy.
vaticaninsider.lastampa.it/en/

I do know from Wikipedia that La Stampa is a Social Liberalist centre-left paper. Thus, it makes me think it is a progressive news source.
Also, one of it’s journalists, is a veteran vaticanist called Andrea Tornielli.

What do you know about it? Reliable, or not?
