Folks can read about the events during the Fourth Crusade and decide whether or not Venetian and other European soldiers, who were indeed sent to the Holy Land without binding agreements in place and were subsequently excommunicated for their actions, took matters into their own hands for payment.

Misinterpret? The church in Rome that has preeminent authority with with all other churches should agree. I guess you can interpret that …in some other manner.
Rome was the centre of all communications between different parts of the Empire. The faithful crowded thither from all quarters-for political business or private interests-and thus her testimony as an Apostolic Church was strengthened by the faithful who came thither from all parts of the world, bringing the witness of all the Churches to which they severally belonged.

Such is the sense of a passage of St. Irenæus, of which the Roman theologians have made the strangest misuse.

This great theologian, attacking the heretics who sought to corrupt the faithful at Rome, establishes against them the Catholic rule of faith, preserved everywhere and always. “But,” he adds, "as it would be very tedious to enumerate in such a work the succession of all the Churches, we will trace that of the very great and very ancient Church and known of all, which was founded and established at Rome by the two very glorious Apostles, Peter and Paul; which possesses a tradition that comes from the Apostles as much as the Faith declared to men, and which has transmitted it to us through the succession of her Bishops; by that, we confound all those who in any manner whatsoever, either through blindness or bad intention, do not gather where they should ; For every Church, that is to say, the faithful who are from all places, are obliged to go toward that Church, because of the most powerful principality. In this Church, the tradition of the Apostles has been preserved by those who are of all countries. From Abbe Guettee’s The Papacy–Its Historic Origin and Primitive Relations with the Eastern Churches
Humbert issued an excommunication of one individual. Equating that to a separation of churches does not exactly work. Otherwise, there would not have been subsequent letters that formalized the separation.
The Bull of Excommunication was addressed towards Patriarch Michael and all who followed him. Since Patriarch Michael was not guilty of any of the litany of false charges laid against him, unsurprisingly all the other patriarchates remained in communion with him and thus fell under the same excommunication.
The fact remains, in all of the events listed above, eastern churches chose to leave.
You haven’t shown this to be the case at all.
Lastly, to the present day, one can see the entities that continue to point fingers.
Why yes, that would be you and your fellow Catholic apologists.

Sorry, but Catholics do not pay much attention to orthodox. Any attention from the magisterium is in terms of ecumenism.

That’s a great interpretation of Irenaeus. Fortunately, his own words are clear enough for all to see.

Protestants also try to “interpret” him.

The RCC has never chosen to become a new or separated entity.
From a Catholic point of view, yes you are correct. However, from an Orthodox view, yeah we do think you are the ones that have gone into schism.

Yes, I saw how that point of view is arrived at in the above narratives.
