First off, I would like to say, welcome home brother, but secondly, I would like to sort of help you understand what a Priest is. A Priest is sacrifice. You leave everything behind to follow Christ as his Priest. That involves your family, especially if the diocese or religious order you join is not in the area they live. We read in the book of Luke, when Christ called Simon Peter and Andrew to follow him they “Left everything behind and followed him.” (cf Luke 5:11). A Priest does the same, Brother, I mean not to discourage you, I myself was in your shoes three years ago, now I live a Private life as a Hermit (no public vows) and am discerning the Priesthood. Yet when we see to take this path, we must understand that you may not see your family for the holidays, especially if you have to serve mass on Christmas 3 times in a day, or if you have to be there for the vigil mass, or you have so much other stuff to do on Christmas and Christmas eve, or even Easter, the whole week is insane! The life of a Priest is sacrificial, you must be willing to put your family behind you and walk this path alone in Christ, for he will always be there. Just to recognize that you may not see them during those holidays, because of your Priestly duties. Due to my discernment, I am not seeing my family for the Holidays, I am choosing to sacrifice my family for my Church Family, to bring to them Christ in the Eucharist, to help my Priest at the mass.
I encourage you to continue your discernment and find yourself a spiritual director to guide you in this discernment. You have two years Brother, by Canon Law you cannot enter into the Seminary until you have been a Catholic for two years, starting from your first Easter (confirmation, first communion). I will pray for you, God Bless.
