All this hair-splitting is not attractive.

Within the context of this discussion, a practicing homosexual and practicing pedophile are exactly the same thing: incompatible with the priesthood. Breaking solemn vows should never be viewed as acceptable under any circumstances.
Within this context, a practicing heterosexual is also exactly the same thing as a practicing pedophile. But the statement about homosexuals and pedophiles wasn’t about context. It said, and I quote: “They are acting on their *homosexual *tendencies. They are supposedly raping and molesting children and in my last post, everyone said that it was because they were gay more than pedopheliacs.” Aside from the fact that “pedopheliac” isn’t even a real word, except on UrbanDictionary, this is saying they molested children because they were gay. In fact, there have been plenty of priests who have molested little girls – and if you think that’s gay then you need to look up “homosexual” in the dictionary. Breaking one’s vows is serious any way you look at it, but breaking them by molesting a child is far worse than breaking them with a consenting adult, because it adds a whole new level of depravity to the situation.
In fact, homosexuals DO molest children, in some of the most vile ways. Those who commit sexual crimes should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, regardless religious status.
In fact, heterosexuals ALSO molest children. And it’s vile either way.

Under the circumstances, the notion that the Church should define and allow levels of vileness and depravity within the ranks of the priesthood seems odd.

There currently exists a perception among the non-Catholic public that the Church writes the rulebook, maintains the playing field and supplies the umpires for the World Series of Child Abuse. At this point, I see no wisdom in furthering that perception by inviting the Vile Heterosexuals to battle the Depraved Homosexuals for the world championship.

Breaking priestly vows by molesting a child is a VERY serious matter because there is a perpetrator and a victim. Breaking the same vows with a consenting adult is MUCH worse because there are two perpetrators and two victims.

In charity, Church should invite them to play somewhere else.
