I thought I’d use this thread first rather than start a new one, to ask everyone out there if anybody has any good suggestions for a free Internet radio station that streams decent Christmas music, focusing on the real meaning of Christmas?

It’s our turn to host Christmas Eve dinner this year and I wouldn’t know where to begin to look for my old CDs, plus I can’t be bothered with changing CDs through the night. It just dawned on me earlier today, doh, why not find an online radio station?

I had a quick browse at a few and they all seem to be full of secular songs, or they’ve got hymns but are versions sung by pop singers. One of my pet peeves is when you have some pop star singing a hymn as though it were a sexy love song

Soooo, I preferably want a station that will only play Christian/Catholic carols/hymns, sung by choirs… Perhaps there will be something on TV that I can have playing in the background. Unfortunately being in Australia we (like New Zealand) have our midnight Christmas Eve before the rest of the world otherwise I would have put the midnight mass from the Basilica on the TV 😉
Try Pandora - they have a few stations that might work for you, from classical Christmas to Gospel Christmas.

There is also I Heart Radio, You could also try LastFM. I’m with you about the Christmas carols being performed by some pop singer that makes the song sound like some sexy love song. I hate going into stores during the holiday season because I know I’m going to hear that stuff:eek:

I love Catholic radio. I listen to 1160 AM Fr. John Ricardo. Also SiriusXM 129 and my favorite is Fr. Dave. I haven’t heard anything objectionable so far, I think it’s always good and true. I have learned a lot and wouldn’t want to give it up.

Thanks again for all responses. Has given me more ideas of what else I can try listening too as well.

I had written a longer explanation of why I recommend Relevant Radio, but somehow the post got lost.

I’ll just say that as a whole I find the hosts, etc., to be non-judgmental.
