Catholic sisters, how do you fill spare time?

Hello sisters in Christ, I’m home from work making dinner and it turns out my meat is still frozen so the shortcut alternative leaves me with a rare spare 3 hours until husband arrives.
It’s funny my mind said to put on something to stream but I hardly watch tv, my guardian angel is nudging me to say a rosary … I really wanted to read an OT story like Ruth but my eyes tire very easily unfortunately which pulls me away from reading the Gospels (audio listening never attracted me maybe I should try it).

Anyway if I ever have free time I’m usually exhausted and take a nap (I’m in my second trimester) but it’s funny how now I’m like what am I gonna do?

I don’t feel like cleaning , my house is ok even though I could find something to clean (I have a bit of cleaning OCD).

I have some creative home business ideas I’m pushing aside and don’t have motivation for that.
I’m pretty sure after I finish dinner I’ll just rest and try to read as I don’t think I can concentrate on a rosary now. Or maybe look up Catholic angel stories. Anyway just wondering what fellow sisters do if they have rare free time or do you ever also get stuck in these moments.

I read, or crochet/knit while I listen to audio books.

When I have down time I also love listening to audiobooks, podcasts, or talks while crafting. I crochet, knit, quilt, and make rosaries.

But, don’t be afraid to nap while you can. You are making a tiny human. It’s a lot of work!

Wow. Making rosaries sounds beautiful. If there is website you recommend please share I would love to learn more about it.

I watch TV, do laundry (I enjoy cleaning), cook, read, garden, play with the fur babies or just catch up on things I need to do but have put off for one reason or another.

I started out following the method in this video. Once I got comfortable with it I branched out to different things.

Here is an example of one I made:

Hello? We come here, lol!

At night I usually watch tv with my husband and use my iPad at the same time. I am usually on CAF, or pinning things on Pinterest.

I wish I had the energy to work on all of the projects I have planned, but I rarely do them at night when I have free time.

That is stunning what you made. Absolutely beautiful, and moreso because it’s handmade in my opinion. May I ask where do you recommend I look for supplies? I have a catholic store near me maybe they sell it because it’s nice to see the pieces in person I would imagine.
Thank you also for the video, I look forward to watching it.

lol I thought about CAF after I posted and I was like “duh” I’ve been here this whole week.
I also have so many things (not urgent) I’d like to do like design stuff and start a blog but then when the spare time actually comes around I’m laying down resting with my phone or watching cooking or baby essentials videos on youtube.

That website looks terrific! My husband will love it too. He has grown to love our Blessed Mother so much, always talking about being a soldier in her army and every time he sees a blue jay (we have many in our backyard) it’s a sign of our Blessed Mother he says. He also loves wearing blue and white because, yup, it’s representative of Mother Mary. It took 20 years for me to see this change and worth the wait! I’m looking forward to looking at the website, thank you 😊

You can probably find your crucifix and centerpiece at a Catholic store. You can also find them at various places online. Just search for rosary supplies.

There are some tools you will need for working the wire, you can find those tools at your local hobby store. You’ll also find a wide selection of beads, wire, and chain there.

Also, thank you for the compliment!

I forget which site it was, but I was lost for hours looking at all of the different centerpieces and crucifixes available. I would probably go crazy making rosaries if I learned how. ☺️ So many options out there to make beautiful rosaries!

This is exciting I have a Michaels craft store next to me. I really like this idea and would love to do something worthwhile for the Lord and sometimes when I’m excited about an idea I go about halfway and then it gets put on hold. Maybe it’s my job stress, working full time with certain people drains my ‘at home’ energy. I think once I stay home full time (God willing) I will be more able to schedule these relaxing and blessed pastimes.

Ooh wow if you ever remember please share, that sounds like the kind of website I would definitely stay on mesmerized with too.

I may have saved it on Pinterest. I will look. I have a Rosary board because I kept seeing so many beautiful rosaries, lol!

Wow they even have vintage beads to make rosaries, great for anyone making them with an Etsy shop as there is a big market for that. Thank you for sharing, I’ve bookmarked the page to enjoy this Friday afternoon, the most relaxing time of the week for me.

My husband wanted to start making rosaries to give away instead of selling , I thought that was nice. I haven’t given it too much thought.

Etsy has sooo many available, but you would probably be more satisfied making your own!

Definitely, I also remember a few months ago my husband saying he wanted to make several and give them away. Bless his soul for thinking we have all this time but I thought it was a nice idea. And now the idea was inspired again here so we’ll see!😊
