Catholic sisters, how do you fill spare time?

I started watching aCatholic Mom on youtube just now I used to watch her but I’m not sure if anyone is familiar with her. Maybe it’s my baby brain but I no longer get that spiritual inspiration. She’s the only Catholic woman representing moms on youtube that I’ve found with a large following and she’s just finished self promoting herself in a new video today telling folks she’s gonna be on tv.I don’t want to judge, I guess everybody self promotes when they have a book or are on tv but I think of St Therese and how she wanted to be invisible (I love St Therese) and here’s a Youtube saying she loves St Therese and yet she’s doing videos about fashion and saying she’s gonna be on tv and please subscribe to her channel and don’t forget to like her facebook page. Just seems so worldly.
Maybe I’m in a cranky mood. I’ll stick with my cooking shows.

I just moved to my own apartment and have cable again so I enjoy relaxing in the evening watching TV and I usually check CAF on my Kindle and I usually have a snack or two after dinner.

Actually, I practice my music (piano/organ), read magazines and novels, or drive around in the countryside. Sometimes I’ll take a field trip to a vintage store to look for uranium glass. Or depending on the time of day, I’ll drive up to my brother’s favorite restaurant and see if he’s hanging around–he knows everyone and it’s fun to sit around and chat with him.

I SHOULD–work out, and sometimes I do. But not often enough.

I should NOT—go out for ice cream, and sometimes I do. Too often.(

I’d suggest you learn the wire wrapping technique. It makes very durable rosaries.

Simply go on You Tube and search “wire wrap beading” or “wire wrapped rosary making”

The cord rosaries are perfect to give away.

They are also a wonderful evangelization tool. I (and the people who taught me) carry at least one length of the nylon cord with me at all times. When I am in the line at the bank, waiting at the doctor, on a plane, etc. I am tying knots in a rosary.

People ask what I am doing, I explain. People sometimes leave it at that, other times they speak of when they “used to be Catholic” or their grandparent would pray the rosary. I also keep some finished rosaries in my purse, so, I can either finish the one I am making or reach in my purse and give them a rosary.

Yes, I have the beginnings of a nice collection of uranium glass, all green so far. I wish I could do pictures to show you. My favorite piece is a candy dish, but I also have a really pretty divided dish (relish dish), a set of six saucers and six tumblers, and a large mixing bowl (we joked about all the people who ate cookies mixed in that bowl probably grew an extra arm!).

I carry a little UV flashlight with me so that I can tell if it’s uranium glass.

My friends at work say that they won’t be eating any candy at my house!
