Catholic Small Business Owners-Christmas?

Maybe I’m just showing my small town Catholic heratige, but yes, I admire stores with a religious theme! Of couse, I live in the bible belt of the midwest, so no one would bat an eye at a nativity scene in a store.

WHERE is your bakery? Do you have a web site for it?

It is in Weed, Ca. on Mt. Shasta. It is called the Weed Bakery. Since 1901. It is the oldest continuously running bus. in our county. We have no website. We used to and then we found out we were already on a cazillion websites and people from all over the world (especially Sydney Australia ) were trying to order from us because of the name. So I cancelled my website because well…trying to ship English Muffins that have no preservatives clear across the world is not profitable. Now a person can ony order and pick up in person. A website is not necessary. So we developed the motto:
Weed Bakery: It’s a City Not an Ingredient! I sold out of bumperstickers the first week. We thought about not baking anymore and just selling the bumperstickers and T-shirts!

Now my new motto is Celebrating 100 + years of Weed Bakers. But our name does give the wrong impression though. And I am still getting plenty of phone calls with people saying Hey Weed Bakery bake me some weed.
The tourists come in and have their picture taken under our original sign that says Weed Bakery but Our Lady of Mount Carmel is right behind them in the window. Kind of wierd!

I dont think you guys are close upon further review… it seems they will be missing out on the goodies…

My mom said good luck to you BTW. She thinks you should just do what you want to since the ones that know your store already are going to continue to avoid it. The only ones that will be brave enough to go ahead would have to use the excuse they did not know about you. The new ones may get away with it with that excuse. Small town stuff.

I think your story helped her see how non-christian they can be. Thanks for planting some more seeds for her to think about.

BTW- they all secretly really want to be happy and enjoy this time too.
But they cant let that out. Its really a sad thing.

I know this. My dad’s cousin lives down the street. He is JW. And so is his wife as it keeps peace in the house. He shuns us of course. but I already know that she seriously misses Christmas and birthdays.
Last summer, on the sly, she got me to give her some old photos of her husband’s parents and siblings. After 30 years of marriage, she has still not met any in laws except me. He will not allow any involvement with any member of his family who is Catholic. She sooo misses having a full family. It is really sad. She asked me to put together for her a family tree. I have it but I have not yet given it to her as I’m afraid he will destroy it. She wants it for her children who never met their grandparents, aunts and uncles. A very sad religion.

I know cheeto its tempting to get swept up in the efforts they make with sincerity, but just remember its a Cult with a capital C. You know that Satan is working overtime to lead as many as he can away from Christ. Dont confuse their efforts to be good when they have led so many astray.

Hey I’m trying on the music part. Will have to switch to a CD player and CD’s. I’m sitting on a mountain which currently is in a blizzard. So I did have Serius satellite and it went belly up last week. No radio reception AT ALL for reg radio. so- off to get a cd player.

For Advent decorations, you could put up an Advent wreath and a Jesse tree.

A couple of years ago, I made our Jesse tree by pasting ornatments (printed from a website) on clear glass balls and hanging them with purple ribbon. Then I made bows out of fat purple ribbons with gold edges and added a couple of small pink balls in the middle. It turned out kind of elegant, if I do say so myself. Since you are a bakery, you could try making the ornaments out of sugar cokies – a sprinkling of sugar would add a pretty sparkle to the tree.
