Orionthehunter:
And your mention of Spengler, to which I will say:
  1. He was follower Bismarck who conducted the forced exile of Catholics (my ancestors were one who fled to Luxemborg before coming to America)
  2. His thoughts ultimately were used by Hitler and his followers to justify their “World Order.”
  3. As evil as this thoughts were, I give nothing that ever comes out of his mouth any credence at all.
Well, I never said Spengler was a saint. 🙂 Granted, many of his ideas are reprehensible, though to his credit, he was not a fan of the Nazis and thought Hitler monstrous (though perhaps for the wrong reasons).

There is much dross in Spengler, but his attitude is informative. The lust for power is one of the gates to hell, I think, and Spengler seems familiar with and writes about both. He is a caution.

Really, I mention him because he has been influential in the fashioning of the realpolitik of our present age. His influence on Kissinger is unmistakable, and Kissinger’s influence on global politics and American conservatism is likewise unmistakable.

Far-be-it from me to claim that Kissinger is the devil, but I do think that he is a challenge to Christian charity.

Under the Mercy,
Mark

Deo Gratias!
