Catholic Souls can become God?

Todd your summary is slightly wrong. We will not become God, we will share in His Nature. We will always have our human nature, it will just be totally immersed and taken into the Heart of God, i.e. we will share in His Nature.

The main difference, as I see it:
Catholics maintain that the human nature is fundamentally different from the Divine Nature. We will share in the Divine Nature through Grace, but we will not exercise that Divine Nature, i.e. we can not do what God does.

Mormons maintain that God and man has fundamentally the same nature. That it is a natural thing for us to become God, because our natures are not different. When we ultimatly do reach the fulness of eternal progression we will exercise the Divine Nature, e.g. we will be able to have spirit children.

Hope this answers your summary.
Yes I think I see - man does become or join with God but is never of the same nature as God (Catholic) The context of the different natures of man and God is in different parts of the Catechism.

yes…whereas, for Mormons, men BECOME gods. They will get their own planet or world. They will be god over that world, just as the lds god is god over this one and god’s god was god over his planet, etc.

A heretical belief, but it is LDS

I think STM has Mormon envy :o

This thread was focused on explaining the Catholic doctrine in a respectful way, and as with every other thread, STM must turn it into a comparison using his own slanted view of LDS core doctrine.(Edited)
