I’m in year 8 and on the 15th of November I have a Catholic Studies exam. Could someone please give me a brief summary of the following:
• Sacraments of healing - reconciliation and anointing of the sick
• Types of sin
• Elements of reconciliation
• Christian prayer and Jewish prayer
• Forms of prayer
• Types of prayer
• What is prayer
Thanks.
:blessyou:

Hi, Jordan! Since today is November 16, do you mean that your exam is on Dec. 15? If so, begin with a thorough reading and understanding of the Catechism. Then delve further into the points for which you need more clarification. If, however, that test was on Nov.15, I hope you did well on it!

You might also do phrase searches of those topics here on CAF, but stick with the the tried and true info from apologists, rather than forum comments from well-meaning, but sometimes off-the-mark contributors. Once you think that you have a good grasp of each subject, then explore the threads to learn how people support their points of view–or not.

You can also conduct Internet searches using “Catholic faith” or Catholic religion" or Catholic beliefs" with the different subjects in Internet searches. The problem with the Internet-at-large is that a lot of the sites have names and/or opening pages that appear to be Catholic or, at least, neutral and just handing out information, but, in fact, are operated by people who denigrate the Catholic faith. If you do an Internet search, immediately go to the Home page or Who We Are (or something similar) page to find out if the site is Catholic.

If you’re asking us to do your work for you–a soft of CAF version of Cliff’s Note–I’m guessing you’ll draw a blank. However, we all have our favorite sources, so, CAFers, share your favorite sources for this student! Good luck, Jordan! I’ll keep you in my prayers.

Thanks for picking up my mistake. Sorry its the 25th of November.

then you have 9 days to do your own work !😃
Well, that’s kinda harsh. But, there’s some wisdom there, Jordan!

See, if you ask people on the internet for information, you’ll usually be able to find it. Some of it will be good information, some of it will be way off-base, and some might be good info that people have misinterpreted. Here’s the problem, though: you won’t have any way to know how to tell the ‘good’ from the ‘bad’.

Worse yet, the people who give you the info aren’t the people who are giving you the test! So, the people who give the test may wish you to know certain things, or want you to read certain sources. We have no idea what their desires are, so we can’t help you study the right stuff that’ll help you pass your test.

So, you’re better off going to the folks who are giving you the test, and finding out from them what sources they want you to use, and what information they want you to study… 😉

Good luck!

Blessings,

G.

p.s., now, if you read something that your teachers point you to, and you don’t understand it, it’s reasonable to come here and say “I read something in my book that says X. What does that mean?”

Start with the Catechism. You can put search words in, and use the links within the articles to research your topics.

This website has a great deal of reliable resources for Catholic students.

Here is an online practice quiz, but the content may be different from your class. You should stick to what you went over in your class as content may vary.

Go over your class notes and handouts. Make flashcards if that is a helpful way for you to study. Give your flashcards to family and friends so they can quiz you between the turkey and the pie.😃

Hi Jordan,

Hey there!

I saw this useful link to education products. It’s awesome, and helpful. I’m a college student intern who works at studysoup.com

It’s a pretty sweet site for college students to buy and sell study materials and I think it would be a good addition to your page

🙂
