I was recently going through some old boxes of mine that I brought back from my parent’s house and found a wonderful surprise - a very old missal that I received from my grandparents for my first communion! It is the 1956 Catholic Sunday Missal and Simplified Prayerbook, Confratertiny Version, in a black leather sewn-in zipper cover. It has two Nihil Obstats, an Imprimi Potest, and an Imprimatur. It is also in virtually mint condition. Can anyone tell me anything about this particular missal? Is it a good version to have (I mean, I love it, but was it considered a good version at the time or rare or anything?)
Also, I’m aware that there would be some slight changes between this version of the missal and the indult Tridentine mass that exists now. Could someone tell me what the differences are, and the various alterations that the Tridentine mass went through? (I hear all this talk on here about FSSP and SSPX and so on, and using this and that version of the Tridentine mass, so I just wondered if someone could put up a relatively simple list? I’ve never been to a Tridentine mass.)
