And this is where Roman Catholics and Christians speak two different languages.

Typically, when a Roman Catholic says “the Gospel”, he actually means the synoptic Gospels.

However, when a Christian says “the Gospel”, we mean the Bible’s explanation of God’s plan to redeem sinful mankind.
When a Catholic Christian says “the Gospel” they could mean any of the four Gospels, not just the synoptics. All four Gospels are read in Church over the course of 3 years’ time.

Funny how when a non-Catholic “shares the Gospel” they don’t even use a single passage FROM the Gospels to do so. Here’s how I learned to “share the Gospel” when I was a Baptist:

Romans 3:23
Romans 6:23
Romans 5:8
Romans 10:13

Not that there’s anything wrong with the book of Romans, it’s just as inspired as the rest of Sacred Scripture. It just seems odd to share the Gospel and not even use Matthew, Mark, Luke or John to do so. 🤷

It’s a shame that words had to get redefined from what they meant for 1500 years before the Protestant Revolt. 😦

So then, Purgatory is not a place one goes after death in order to suffer to cleanse oneself of sin?
No, only those who have been forgiven of sin ( state of Grace) can enter into a state that restores the soul to perfection. The soul is distorted by sin. What person at the time of their death weren’t at least committing sins they don’t realise or trying not to commit sins too sublime to catch as they happen or too entrenched in our habits?

Dear Paar,
Second, where is in the Quran that there is a reformer of Muhammad. Fourth, to all of the member, I am sorry for being off-topic. I can’t wait to response to my dear brother, Paarsurrey.
Hi

Thanks brother; you are very kind.
Since, it would be off-topic, I suggest another alternative for you.
Kindl access the following website:
alislam.org/
There is a search engine there on the upper right; use it for your queries one by one. I think you will get satisfactory answer; though no compulsion to believe, yet you will have a useful comparative study for a good understanding.

Thanks

Hi

Resurrection that never happened; it is another mystery story created by Paul./\
The ressurection was mentioned in all four of the Gosples and was proclaimed while paul was still a Jew
I love Jesus and Mary; sorry I don’t believe mysteries invented by Paul.

Thanks
I love Jesus & Mary also-i just dont believe the mysteries invented by Mohammed.

Scripture does not contain the fullness of the faith, the Church does.

Timothy 3:15
But if I should be delayed, you should know how to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and foundation of truth.

“But in learning the Faith and in professing it, acquire and keep that only, which is now delivered to thee by the Church, and which has been built up strongly out of all the Scriptures…Take heed then, brethren, and hold fast the traditions which ye now receive, and write them and the table of your heart.” Cyril of Jerusalem, Catechetical Lectures, 5:12 (A.D. 350).

“But beyond these [Scriptural] sayings, let us look at the very tradition, teaching and faith of the Catholic Church from the beginning, which the Lord gave, the Apostles preached, and the Fathers kept.” Athanasius, Four Letters to Serapion of Thmuis, 1:28 (A.D. 360).

“For they [heretics] do not teach as the church does; their message does no accord with the truth.” Epiphanius, Panarion, 47 (A.D. 377).

“My resolution is, to read the ancients, to try everything, to hold fast what is good, and not to recede from the faith of the Catholic Church.” Jerome, To Minervius & Alexander, Epistle 119 (A.D. 406).

“But it will be said, If the words, the sentiments, the promises of Scripture, are appealed to by the Devil and his disciples, of whom some are false apostles, some false prophets and false teachers, and all without exception heretics, what are Catholics and the sons of Mother Church to do? How are they to distinguish truth from falsehood in the sacred Scriptures? They must be very careful to pursue that course which, in the beginning of this Commonitory, we said that holy and learned men had commended to us, that is to say, they must interpret the sacred Canon according to the traditions of the Universal Church and in keeping with the rules of Catholic doctrine, in which Catholic and Universal Church, moreover, they must follow universality, antiquity, consent.” Vincent of Lerins, Commonitory of the Antinquity and Universality of the Catholic Faith, 70 (A.D. 434).

Uh excuse me … Paarsurrey my brother.

Are you borrowing Quranic version of deception that God made other person being disguised and looked alike Mary and live with John?
Hi

I never stated that there is any deception in any verse in Quran. Jesus might have entrusted his mother to John for a short period; while going into exile he took her along as she was primarily his responsibility; there is no contradiction here.

Thanks

Dear Paar,

I have entered your blog. Just a piece of a constructive (name removed by moderator)ut for you, Paar. Why don’t you cut all things you considered as a proof of your claim, and paste them into your blog. In that case, it will be easy for us to view them. Perhaps you can also put titles to each of your proof you gather.
Hi

That is exactly my intention; but I don’t know the technicalities of a blog. I opened the blog in 2006 but could not run it. I wanted to open a new one now and found out that I had one already. I thought I should take help from my freinds and brothers here.

I think I should open a new blog under a different username and a different password and let you know the both; perhaps we both could run one together and meanwhile I would learn as to how to run it.

If you agree, kindly tell me. You are such a nice friend/brother.

I apologize from my friends in the thread, being a little off-topic.
The Catholics are very charitable. I must admit.

Thanks

Hi

The PromisedMessiah 1835-1908 has explained the correct scenario:

[Scenario]
Okay, helps to explain Islam’s beleif that Jesus didn’t really die on a cross. But it doesn’t say anything at all about Jesus going to India.

At the death of Christ and at the Resurrection there were many people seen coming out of their graves and walking around Jerusalem. They must be dead folks.:shrug
Hi

The PromisedMessiah 1825-1908 had written on this a very interesting note. I will just give here some account of it:

Among the testimonies which have reached us through the gospels, is the statement set out below from the gospel of Matthew: ‘And the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his (viz. Jesus’) resurrection and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

There is not the slightest doubt that the story mentioned in the gospel, namely, that after the resurrection of Jesus the saints came out of the graves and appeared alive to many, is not based on historical fact; for, if it had been so, the Judgment Day would have been enacted in this very world, and that which had been kept secret as a test of faith and sincerity would have been made manifest to all; faith would not have been faith, and, in the sight of every believer and denier, the nature of the next world would have become an evident and a patent fact, just as the existence of the moon, the sun, and the alternation of day and night is an evident fact. In that case, faith would not have been a valued and a valuable thing such as could have merited any kind of reward.

If the people and past prophets of Israel whose number is millions, had really been brought to life at the time of the Crucifixion and had come to the city alive, and if this miracle – that hundreds of prophets, and many hundred thousand of saints, were all brought to life at the same time – was really shown in proof of the truth and divinity of Jesus, the Jews had an excellent opportunity to inquire of the prophets brought back to life, and of the other saints, as well as their own deceased ancestors, whether Jesus who claimed to be God was really God or whether he had only lied. They probably did not lose this opportunity.

They must have inquired about Jesus, for they were very keen to inquire from the dead if they could be restored to life. When, therefore, hundreds of thousands of the dead were restored to life, and came to the city, and thousands of them repaired to each quarter thereof, how could the Jews let go an opportunity like this? They must have inquired, not from one or two, but from thousands; and when the dead entered their respective houses there must have been great excitement in every house, for many hundred thousand of them had been restored to the world. In every house there must have been great talk, and everybody must have been questioning the dead as to whether they knew that the man who called himself Jesus, the Messiah, was really God. But, because the Jews did not believe in Jesus, as could be expected, nor did their hearts soften, rather did they become confirmed in their hard-heartedness, it appears probably that the dead did not speak a favourable word for him.

They must have given without hesitation the reply that this man was making a false claim to Godhood, and was uttering a lie against God. That was why the Jews did not desist from mischief, in spite of hundreds of thousands of prophets and apostles being restored to life. Having ‘killed’ Jesus, they attempted to kill others. How can one believe that hundreds of thousands of saints who, from the time of Adam up to the time of John the Baptist, had been lying in their graves in that blessed earth, should all be brought back to life? – that they should all come to the city to preach, and everyone of them should stand up and bear witness before thousands of people that Jesus, the Messiah, was really the Son of God – no, God Himself; that only he should be worshipped; that the people should renounce their former beliefs; otherwise, they would go to hell, which these saints had themselves witnessed! and yet notwithstanding such excellent evidence and such eye-witness accounts which proceeded from the mouths of hundreds of thousands of dead saints the Jews should not desist from their denial! I personally am not prepared to believe this.

Therefore, if hundreds of thousands of saints and prophets and apostles, etc., who were dead, had really come to life and had come to the city to give evidence, they must undoubtedly have given unfavourable evidence; they could never have borne witness to the divinity of Jesus. This seems to be the reason why the Jews, having listened to the evidence of the dead, became confirmed in their unbelief. Jesus wanted to get them to believe in his divinity, but they, as a result of this evidence, denied that he was even a prophet.

Ha…Ha… Paarsurrey, I must admit that you are good in inventing stories. Are you a lawyer, perhaps?

So then, Purgatory is not a place one goes after death in order to suffer to cleanse oneself of sin?
Purgatory is a state or a process of purification the soul prior to seeing the face of the Lord, nothing unclean can see the face of God. That process can begin now or after the mortal event.

Have a good day.

Mt 5:48 - be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect
Heb 12:14 - strive for that holiness without which cannot see God
Jam 3:2 - we all fall short in many respects
Rev 21:27 - nothing unclean shall enter heaven
2Sam 12:13-14 - David, though forgiven, still punished for his sin
Mt 5:26 - you will not be released until paid last penny
Mt 12:32 - sin against Holy Spirit unforgiven in this age or next
Mt 12:36 - account for every idle word on judgment day
2Macc 12:44-46 - atoned for dead to free them from sin
1Cor 3:15 - suffer loss, but saved as through fire
1Pet 3:18-20; 4:6 - Jesus preached to spirits in prison
2Tim 1:16-18 - Paul prays for dead friend Onesiphorus
1Cor 15:29-30 - Paul mentions people baptizing for the death

Have a good day.

 Meaningless but I suspect you think it is an answer. Just like the rest of your non answers.
Actually I have and I think it is full to brimming over with meaningful texts relevant to both the Lord, the Church and the prayers including its many Canticles.

I love the book of Issiah 🙂

Blessings and peace

Islams teaching on the Crucifixion is in error on a number of points not least that the Sanhedrin guard KNEW FULL WELL Whom they were arresting because the Lord Himself told them so. Reproduced in the Synoptic Gospels but very well and fully explained in John.

‘who do you want’ they asked. ‘Jesus of Nasareth’ they exclaimed. ‘I AM HE!’ Further ‘I have told you I am the One you want so let these others go!’ Jn 18:1-11.

If the Lord said: ‘I am He!’ How could they have arrested the wrong man as the Koran suggests!! 😛

How could it be a case of ‘mistaken identity in the dark’ when the Lord said: I AM HE!! It can’t get any clearer than that!!!

The event unfolded [as described] almost as if the Lord could see that some would come later and deny it ever took place!

As for 'dying on the cross: Scripture reports that when the soldier pierced His side with a lance, out flowed blood and water. Jn 19:33.
When all the blood drains from a body, the last is the water clear plasma which indicates that there was no more blood. How dead is that!

A body would not survive given 21st century medicine, advanced medical care and anti-biotics. How much less so, in the absence of these? 😛

Did He lay in the tomb on a slab then suddenly ‘just wake up - bloodless?’

It beggars belief that anyone could believe anything different!

Blessings and peace

This has to be a wind up surely? 😛

So ok, lets run with the absurd allegation that St Paul made it up!

Are there any other witnesses to the Resurrection?

There was Mary Magdalene,Jn 20:16

The Apostles minus Thomas Jn 20:19

Thomas Jn 20:26

The Disciples on the Road to Emmeus Lk 24:31 [13 - 32]

Many other un-named witnesses Jn 21:25

Jesus Himself Mt 17:22-23 👍

One or two would be acceptable in a Court of Law, but here we have not two but no less than 16 named witnesses and possibly hundreds of un-named. How many do you need! 😛

Are you seriously calling Almighty God [Allah] a Liar!!

Lily, you KNOW the answer. The Christian Scriptures are all corruptions/corrupted/inventions. Nothing but a pack of fables.

So then, Purgatory is not a place one goes after death in order to suffer to cleanse oneself of sin?
Purgatory is not so much a place as a process.

The process of being make perfect. 👍

We say 'the souls in Purgatory. What we mean is 'the souls in the process of being made perfect.

How or where Almighty God enables that, is His to know and us in this life not to, but to pray for those in the process or on the road to perfection. 🙂

Where/What is Purgatory? Man is only just discovering what lies at the edge of our solar system. 😛

How much further must he go before he reaches the mysteries of Heaven! 😃

Purgatory is not so much a place as a process.

The process of being make perfect. 👍
So we can qualify to enter the Heavenly City into which “nothing unclean” may enter.

It is official teaching that Purgatory is NOT a “place”
