A Catholic teenager was tied to a wooden cross and hung from a wall in a ‘sustained course of victimisation and bullying’ by work colleagues, a court heard yesterday.
Andrew Addison, 30, Joseph Rose, 21, Christopher Jackson, 22, and Alex Puchir, 37, allegedly tormented him at their firm in Selby, North Yorkshire – before some dismissed it as ‘banter’.
The boy apprentice, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also had religious and phallic symbols drawn on his face and body with permanent marker, the court was told.
Mr Newman said the boy was a practising Roman Catholic and told the jury the defendants were motivated by hostility based on his religious observance.
Addison, Jackson, and Puchir are accused of tying the boy to a wooden cross and hanging him from a wall ‘in a way which resembled a crucifixion’, Mr Newman said.
“He was subjected to acts of bullying, which the Crown say went beyond anything that could reasonably be described as banter or high jinks in the workplace.”
The prosecutor said the three men ‘tied’ the teenager on to a cross, which had been fashioned from two lengths of wood and attached to a piece of plasterboard, with duct tape before leaving him suspended about a metre above the ground for around ten minutes.

What that lad had to go through because of his faith was awful, I can only pray that out of this his faith will be strengthened by this persecution.

I can’t believe one of them is 37 years old. All of them are adults too. They are acting like middle-schoolers. Very immature. :nope:

Oh, the poor teenager. And these people should very well know that they are acting like middle-schoolers (though the people I went to middle school with were far more mature than that).

Would any of you consider what they tried to do to this teen sacrilege in some sense?

Now and then one finds oneself wishing for the return of British imperialism so the government could draft the thugs, put them in red uniforms and throw them at some savage army somewhere distant, like it did long ago.

One should not be so ridiculous, nor believe half the rubbish printed in the Daily Wail. In my opinion ht ejournalists writing about this could only outdone by their readers in being half way to paradise in the reading thereof.

Had this happened in the U.S., it wouldn’t even have made the news. Wrong religion being attacked.

Are you kiddin’? This would be on the front page of the NY Post had it happened in the Tri-State area, I guarantee you that.
Wow. One New York newspaper. Let’s even throw in a mention from Fox News. Everything else…

Terrible story.
But one bit missing (unless I missed it) is…were his colleagues of any religion? Catholic? Protestant? A non-Christian religion? None?

WHY did they do this?

.
Have you actually read the Post (not that you should, because it’s just a plain low class publication)? The only reason that this would get a mention in the NY Post, or Times for that matter, would be to discuss all the horrible things Catholics have done in order to deserve such treatment by these “seekers of social justice”.

What a strange story. It sounds a lot like hazing type incidents from the military. I hope they are punished appropriately. Bullying, of any kind, should never be tolerated.
