This is a beautiful article and shows the younger generation coming together as human beings, young catholics and young mormons learning to understand the other. Great!!

I love this kind of togetherness and it shows that I am on target with my ideas. 🙂

I didn’t get that the LDS kids and the Catholic kids took to your idea of being a Catholic and LDS at the same time. Looks to me like the LDS giving lessons in English in exchange for extended time to proselytize.

Notice that they gave each of the Spanish kids a Book of Mormon and had them sing Primary songs? Blatant proselytizing!

The only reason Mormons ever associate with non-Mormons is to convert us. Other than that, they have no regard or use for us. I hope that everyone will eventually wake up to that fact.

So I wasn’t the only one?

I used to think my Catholic friend was weird when she said her father wouldn’t let her attend my Protestant Youth Group. Now I applaud him. Some groups take any chance to convert.

why me claims they were understanding each other. did the mormon kids pray the rosary with them? get a copy of the catechism? how about doing the stations of the cross? no they did a mormon pioneer trek which is about as close to bible camp as you can get. tired hungry kids having testimony meetings while getting indoctrinated in a false history…

This was an enactment of the lds pioneer trek westward. All lds pioneers heading west had the book of mormon and sang lds hymns. 🙂

I don’t think that the original mormons heading west were praying the rosary. But I could be wrong. 🙂 Nor do I think that the mormon pioneers were studying the catechism. But I could be wrong. It was a reactment of the westward trek that the mormons took. Nothing more. And as the article stated their was good understanding on both sides. And so, yes, I do believe that the spanish kids also spoke about their faith.

Yes, segregation is always the way to go. :o This was a great opportunity to build understanding and cooperation. Both the mormon teens and the catholic teens learned to appreciate difference.

I don’t think that the teens would care just how I worship god. But I could certainly give a good lesson on cooperation and understanding since I have both faiths in my life. 🙂

Maybe the Mormon kids could now go on a pilgrimage to Fatima with some Portuguese kids to develop their understanding … or perhaps they could go on pilgrimage on the Camino de Santiago de Compostela.

Why not? But I would recommend something that actually took place in catholic history. But what could it be? The mormon and catholic teens went on an historical reenactment of a historical event.

If it’s an exercise in understanding why is an historical reenactment necessary?

I am sorry but your little LDS trek is dumb. BLah Blah Blah hey look at me I am a LDS Trek wow so cool!

Are you say the appearance of Our Lady of Fatima did not take Place?

I think that for young people such an experience is a bonding experience where teens learn to help one another to cope with a difficult situation. It is an exercise in bonding together to understand something that actually happened. It was also a learning experience for mormon teens who also went on the trail of the early mormon pioneers.

Not for the teens involved. And that, in the end, is what is important. 🙂 For the spaniards it was cool!

How to duplicate the miracle of the sun? And who plays the virgin appearing to the children? Much work is involved in this reenactment to get the realism.

why would there need to be a duplication of the the miracle? It would be a reenactment not a duplication. its called acting. done on stage all the time. Maybe you should go see a play to see how that it done.

I want to be there for the twirling of the sun as it leaves its orbit and dries the wet clothes of the people present. 🙂 It will take more than acting!😃

Or participate in the Stations of the Cross. The local Catholic high school, Juan Diego, reenacts this every year. A better reenactment for a Christian, IMHO. As it glorifies God, not Mormon ancestors.
