Cooperation is beneficial in many aspects of human interaction. Now, I’m not saying the massive humanitarian work that is done today by various organizations is the same as the small groups we evolved to work and cooperate in. Those things would be more of an empathy and compassion kind of thing. Again, you don’t need a god to feel sorry for a fellow human being and want to help them.
Okay, I’m chiming in again. And of course this is going to sound rigid, and traditionalist and all that, but the two stances the Church has with which I DO agree is their reasoning behind birth control and abortion.Thanks. I am actually completely aware of this, as I have been around here for enough time to have noticed. That is why I was questioning someone earlier in this thread about being a Sedevacantist!
But when I speak of Catholicism, I also won’t include those liberal Catholics that use birth control and want non-male priests. My mother is one of those. It is obvious to me that that is simply cafeteria-style Catholicism.
The Church clearly states that they are against these things, but these Catholics still stay in and just ignore it. I think they are deluding themselves. If they find these kind of inconsistencies in the Church, can’t they see that they can’t trust the Church 100% to define their moral system for them? Maybe they just tell themselves that they aren’t perfect enough to see it the way the Church does? Or maybe they don’t think the Magisterium is actually teaching the truth on these issues, and that the Church will at some point change their position? Why don’t they switch to a denomination that matches all their beliefs? Are they just intellectually lazy/complacent?
