im sure it been asked probably even by my self but what are the officaly accepted translations by the catholic church? and i own a new living translation bible that ive had for years now and is very dear tome, should i get rid of it? 😦 and whats the difference why does the church accpet certain translatiosn and not others?

You must’ve overlooked this article that the staff of Catholic Answers has written.

However, if you scan through this Scripture Forum, you’ll see discussed the pros and cons of several different translations of the Bible, both Catholic and non-Catholic, and you’ll notice that we never quit, either.

My own take: for high accuracy, the Douay-Rheims; for better readability coupled with good accuracy, the RSV-CE; for an innovative approach with some hefty amounts of study material, the New Jerusalem Bible (1985) regular edition.
