I’m new to these forums. I wasn’t raised a Catholic and as a result I am unfamiliar with many of the Catholic universities. I am intending to obtain a master’s degree in theology and to pursue a PhD as well. Can any of you give me a list of quality Catholic universities that have graduate programs in theology? Thanks.

Welcome to CAF! 🙂

The Catholic University of America

The University of Dallas

Notre Dame University (can be a bit “iffy”, but I think it’s theology department is sound)

The Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio offers Master’s degrees, but not Doctorates. franciscan.edu/

Ave Maria University in Naples, FL offers Bachelors, Master’s and Doctorates. avemaria.edu

I also came across a listing of all the Catholic universities in the United States. You can click on the blue links on the page and it will tell you more about the school.

Also, most of all of the schools on the list above have either Religion or Theology programs.

Saint Leo University offers a Master’s in Theology and will be starting a Doctorate Program soon.

I second these two. 🙂

Just a plug for my alma mater; Saint Leo is fully accredited and is the oldest Catholic institute of higher learning in the State of Florida.
