First, I’m a bit confused with the title of this original post. According the the Catholic Church Boehner is NOT pro-life. I applaud Boehner’s awesome awesome awesome voting record against abortion 👍 He truly should be commended with a great record in the fight against this horrible holocaust.

However, I cannot consider him to be pro-life based on his terrible voting on death penalty issues:
Voted YES on making federal death penalty appeals harder. (Feb 1995) -
Voted NO on replacing death penalty with life imprisonment. (Apr 1994) -
More prisons, more enforcement, effective death penalty. (Sep 1994)

Yikes, let’s not get too hasty when calling him pro-life because he isn’t.
The Church does now and always has allowed for the Death Penalty. Pope Benedict XVI emphatically stated that there is no moral equivalnece between supporting the death penalty and supportng abortion. he also stated that a Catholic could in good conscience support the death penaty

Yes, I understand that the Church has allowed for death penalty in areas where it is unrealistic to keep someone from hurting society because the country does not have the means to do so. However, in the United States, we have the ability to keep anyone we desire from harming others. When we instead kill a criminal, it is not an act for the protection of other human lives, instead it is an act of vengeance, which is very anti-life and very much against the pro-life cause. Don’t let your political beliefs affect your religious beliefs. Instead, let your religious beliefs affect your political beliefs. The more I think about it, all good American Catholics should be very “independant”, neither Democrat nor Republican.

As JPII so eloquently states:

“May the death penalty, an unworthy punishment still used in some countries, be abolished throughout the world.” (Prayer at the Papal Mass at Regina Coeli Prison in Rome, July 9, 2000).

“A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. Modern society has the means of protecting itself, without definitively denying criminals the chance to reform. I renew the appeal I made most recently at Christmas for a consensus to end the death penalty, which is both cruel and unnecessary.” (Homily at the Papal Mass in the Trans World Dome, St. Louis, Missouri, January 27, 1999).

So, how pro-life is Boehner? …certainly not 100%…and guess what GW Bush isn’t either!

Abortion is an intrinsic evil, capital punishment is not. A catholic can support the latter but not the former Boehners Pro-life credentials are questioned only by those trying to rationalize supporting pro/abortion politicians

First off, if you are insinuating that I would support a pro-abortion candidate in any level of government office, I am incredibly offended. I would NEVER EVER EVER support a pro-abortion candidate. EVER 👍

However, how in the world can anyone in good conscience say that Boehner or any politician supporting the death penalty is truly pro-life? Anti-abortion…yes, but truly pro-life…no. Clearly, the Church supports the fact that NONE of these politicians are purely pro-life. Certainly not Obama (no question there) but also not any of the pro-death penalty American politicians. They are not pro-life according to what LIFE means in the eyes of Christ’s Church.

I suppose we vote for the lesser of the evils. Since abortion is so much more rampant than the death penalty I vote anti-abortion, which has caused me to vote for pro-death penalty candidates. I’ve never considered these candidates pro-life though. I had to choose the lesser of the evils when it comes to the life issues. I wish we could have a candidate to care enough for life that he or she would be 100% pro-life and not a “cafeteria pro-lifer” :banghead: Dare to dream…oy vey! Maybe God will send us one soon! Maybe me 👍 VOTE Domer 1997 in 2012!!! Ha Ha. Finally, I’m old enough to be President! Watch out America 😃 I’m coming to change a few things!

IMO This letter had nothing pro-life about it.

It is pro-entitlement driven.

It was / is an attempted assassination attempt - attempted to tie to pro-life issues - but purely driven by pro-entitlement.

They also applauded his pro-life stances in regards to abortion.
I have to admit that I have not paid much attention to Boehner’s stances in regards to abortion. Is he one of those politicians that let’s everyone know his stances in order to get votes or is he actually doing something about abortion laws? I get really frustrated with politicians that say things but don’t get anything done. That’s where those “non-negotiable” voter guides become a joke.

He walks the walk. He has a 100% rating from National RTL and a 0% rating from NARAL. He has also been the sponsor or co-sponsor on numerous pro-life pieces of legislation.

This is the reason our country is in so much debt. Any time anyone tries to cut spending even a little, on any program, people complain, “Oh no! You can’t cut that! :bigyikes:” No one, Boehner or any one else, has cut enough spending that we can stop borrowing. The government keeps putting the country deeper and deeper in debt and spending way more money than is taken in. Politicians just keep giving out borrowed money in programs to keep everyone happy and voting for them, and leave the debt problem for someone else to worry about later on.

Where was the moral outrage of these academic half-wits when Obama spoke at Notre Dame? (listen to the crickets chirp). Their selective moral outrage is apalling and should be ignored. Notice that the president of the university and none of the bishops in the us signed-on to this nonsense.
