I was recently looking into spirit guides and stuff and I found that mine is a deer. Is it bad? I’m not worshiping or praising it or anything. I still believe God is the only God, but like when I see a deer, it’ll remind me to be more gracious, kind, aware, giving, compassionate, etc, other qualities of a deer that are good for everyday life. That doesn’t seem bad to me, but is there something else the church says about it?

“Spirit guides” are generally a new age concept or a non-Christian one.

We have guardian angels.

336 From infancy to death human life is surrounded by their watchful care and intercession.[202] “Beside each believer stands an angel as protector and shepherd leading him to life.”[203] Already here on earth the Christian life shares by faith in the blessed company of angels and men united in God.

hy wouldn’t you choose someone from the abundance of saints that are available for personal inspiration?

You are blessed in having St Michael the great Archangel as your patron, to intercede for you and to protect you. 🙂

Michael, Jesus is “gracious, kind, aware, giving, compassionate”
I’m sure you will find that Jesus is a better reminder than a deer to be those things. 🙂
I like animals too…but our spiritual inspiration is already there in the Lord, and in the angels and saints.

What I have always wondered is why when I want to talk to a spiritual being be in angels, saints, etc. I get no answer. Sometimes I find my mind wandering and it is almost like I am talking to myself because say I ask a question my mind will come up with a response.

Should I let this happen? Is this me getting an answer? Because I do not think it is.

Hmmm. Interesting question and response. I would love to hear more.

Is it possible you don’t get an answer because you are listening with your ears rather than your heart?
Maybe there is no answer because there is no answer resolving your situation, in other words, maybe God would like you to keep asking with persistence. (this is the answer I most frequently receive, can be challenging, which is the whole point, to build my patience and fortitude)

In any case, scripture tells us that God hears, and always gives an answer.

I just dont see how a deer could be a spirit guide. 🤷

I have a “Spiritual Advisor”. He is a Catholic priest. Need I say more?
