Can you tell me about Catholic Worker communities? It’s my understanding it’s a self-sufficient community, maybe living on a homestead, of Catholics, and sometimes Protestants, too, who take a vow of poverty and serve the community. They rely on donations or of outside purchases of their hand-crafted items.

The website catholicworker.org/ doesn’t tell me much. The communities in my state and neighboring states don’t have websites to learn about them, but that’s probably because they are poor. Duh!

Thanks.

In my experience, Catholic Worker houses vary considerably.

Corpus Christi House, Boise, Idaho, provides some services for Catholic Worker. I once donated items on a wish list for one of the Catholic Worker homes. I just can’t remember which one it was. You are right, there is very little information. Even catholicworker.org and then Communities information is not clear.
