I thought it prudent to show one of the Catholic errs in Marian worship.
These are authroatative quotes which prove that the Catholic Church worships Mary. Link removed as rabidly anti-Catholicurl]

These include Papal encylicals which the Catholic Church claim are authoratative for church teachings.
If you really thought it prudent to show the errors in catholic/marian theology you should have started with what the cathecism of the catholic church says because it is more simple.

CCC 487:What the Catholic faith believes about Mary is based on what it believes about Christ, and what it teaches about Mary illumines in turn its faith in Christ.

CCC 963: Since the Virgin Mary’s role in the mystery of Christ and the Spirit has been treated, it is fitting now to consider her place in the mystery of the Church. "The Virgin Mary . . . is acknowledged and honored as being truly the Mother of God and of the redeemer. . . . She is ‘clearly the mother of the members of Christ’ . . . since she has by her charity joined in bringing about the birth of believers in the Church, who are members of its head."502 "Mary, Mother of Christ, Mother of the Church."503

I’ve highlighted the very words that you can focus on. The very site that you just linked to mentions the reflections of the saints and the popes which has a deeper and richer meaning. I suggest you start with the CCC since it is simpler and easier to read. I don’t know if this helps but if it doesn’t then I recommend Karl Keatings book “Catholicism and Fundamentalism.” It was written for people like you(no offense intended). He delves into topics such as this and explains it quite clearly. I hope you do get the book.

you have been grossly misinformed…

Once again, my brother, you are misquoting the writings.

Jesus, as the Word INCARNATE, came THROUGH Mary - it is a physical fact.

Therefore, because she sacrificed her physical body and her physical well being (remember, childbearing - even today - can be one of the most dangerous things a woman can undertake and was even more so in those days!) she - the Woman of Genesis - is the New Eve, the New Ark of the Covenant. She is to be honored and revered, but not worshiped.

I would, my brother in Christ, read the Catechism and perhaps some of the tracts available here through Catholic Answers. There is a wonderful book by Karl Keating on Catholicism and Fundamentalism which may help yoou more fully understand the Holy Mother Church. I know that your presence on this website and participation on the forum shows your hunger for the Truth and the fullness of the Word Incarnate…go to Catholic.com and look for help in these areas. You will see that nothing taught by the Popes you have quoted differs by that which was taught by the Early Church Fathers, who own writings predate that which was gathered by the Holy Mother Church into the Holy Scripture.

Good luck! And may the Holy Spirit guide you in your learning!

And what of the countless Ex-catholics I have run into that say that there was Mary Worship as a pratice and (i quess) unwritten dogma?

None of the papal encyclicals you cite say we are to worship Mary. If this was your “big” proof, you’ve failed miserably.

Yet, this is the official teaching of the Church, from the Catechism of the Catholic Church:
[2112](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/2112.htm’)😉 The first commandment condemns polytheism. It requires man neither to believe in, nor to venerate, other divinities than the one true God. Scripture constantly recalls this rejection of “idols, [of] silver and gold, the work of men’s hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see.” These empty idols make their worshippers empty: "Those who make them are like them; so are all who trust in them."42 God, however, is the "living God"43 who gives life and intervenes in history.
[2113](javascript:openWindow(‘cr/2113.htm’)😉 Idolatry not only refers to false pagan worship. It remains a constant temptation to faith. Idolatry consists in divinizing what is not God. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc. Jesus says, "You cannot serve God and mammon."44 Many martyrs died for not adoring "the Beast"45 refusing even to simulate such worship. Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.46
2114 Human life finds its unity in the adoration of the one God. The commandment to worship the Lord alone integrates man and saves him from an endless disintegration. Idolatry is a perversion of man’s innate religious sense. An idolater is someone who "transfers his indestructible notion of God to anything other than God."47

Do you trust someone with an axe to grind or do you go to the source and get the truth? Anyone who tells you we worship Mary is just flat out lying to you.

And besides, look at that, “unwritten dogma.” Your ex-Catholic friends have just admitted that the Church has never said worship Mary ;). The practices of the followers aren’t always the beliefs of the Church anyway.

That means that those ex-Catholics didn’t have a deep understanding of their own faith. I would suggest that we be skeptical of their claims, because they may not have really understood their faith at all. There are cultural Catholics and “religious” Catholics–for lack of a better word. The cultural Catholics may go overboard sometimes, and the more educated Catholics (new converts or “Cradle Catholics”) need to take them to task concerning what they sometimes say. As Catholics, we are bound to follow the Church doctrines, but necessarily the associated “culture” of some well-meaning, but misinformed Catholics. Many Catholics don’t understand their faith, and this is why reading the Catechism is so important. An ignorant ex-Catholic, however, is insufficient grounds for anyone to change the way they understand their faith.

It just amazes me how the same questions keep coming up and everyone keeps answering them the same way. Yet these Anti-Catholic’s do not bother to do any real research?

I don’t meant to be a impolite PNRC, but I haven’t seen a shred of real evidence come across that proves the Catholic Church wrong since I joined this site several months ago. And I won’t because the Catholic Church is the one and only church founded by Jesus Christ. The Bible is a Catholic Book that was given to the world by the Catholic Church. There is nothing in it that will counterdict the Cartholic Church. Check out this web site and order the free tapes. biblechristiansociety.com/free_tapes.asp The Truth Will Set You Free…

Every day someone post something and you guys give great answers and references that back you up. You guys ROCK! 👍

Keep up the good work…

God Bless everyone…

One of the best and simplest arguements that I have seen against our worship of Mary is that if we worshipped her, why wouldn’t we admit to doing so? Do nonCatholics think that all Catholics are taught to lie about their beliefs? If I saw Mary as a Goddess, wouldn’t I proudly admit that?

If Catholics worshipped Mary, why would they deny it? How is it possible to feel such a strong positive feeling towards a being that one actually worships that being, and at the same time one goes about freely denying to anybody who will listen that they worship that being? Explain the mental processes that would produce both worship and denial of worship.

And if Catholics are such fervent worship-deniers, why don’t they ever, ever, deny that they worship the Father, the Son, or the Holy Spirit? Why do they always deny they worship Mary, and never deny they worship the Persons of the Trinity? Explain that to me as well.

PNRC, let me make it simple for you, God choose her, we pray with her, still, just as they did from the beginning of the Church that Jesus founded. Read in Acts of the Apostles how they were praying with her when the Holy Spirit decended upon them. Jesus left His Church to His Mother and His Apostles. Our current modern day Bishops are those Apostles. Jesus came to us through her, and she leads all to Him. We don’t worship her, we give her the highest honor, as she deserves. God choose her, not us. (We are just really happy that he did.) 👍 She’s your Mother too, as Jesus gave her to all of us from the Cross (must have been pretty important for Him to make that point while He was dying don’t you think?) Afterall, His Word is for all of us, “Behold your Mother.”!! (and let’s not forget the 10 Commandments-Honor your Mother…get it now?) Plus in the future, if you want to know what the Catholic Church teaches, read up on this site www.catholic.com (the home page, has lots of wonderful, useful knowledge, those people are “experts” because they have studied, and lived the faith.
Also on www.ewtn.com and on www.vatican.va(this is the official Vatican web site.)
That way you will know it for sure, you won’t have to take someone else’s hearsay for it.

You seem to attract ex-Catholics who either were grossly ignorant of Catholicism, or have a grudge against it. Did you ever run into an ex-Catholic who didn’t say Catholics worship Mary, or are your ex-Catholics sources batting a thousand on that charge?

I will certainly pray for you that the Holy Spirit will come to you and explain the Truth to you.
