PNRC:
I am going through the ecycilicals to look for myself now. They are rather long so it is taking me some time. If I can’t find them I will retract the statement and apologize for the err.
Dear Mr. PNRC,

I don’t know how much you travel the threads posted here but, Church Militant gave some usefull advise on one of them for your read through.

I am not justifying I agree with the catholic church on its CONDEMNATION of marian worship but, just saying it is hard to find people willing to look for five words in a fifty page document.
Hi Montie!
That’s why Windows has an “Edit” feature up top on the left. Click that…then scroll down and click on “Find in this page…” then you’ll see a search engine box show up at the bottom of the window…just type in the phrase you need to find (or in this case I simply copied and pasted it there.) and then click find and it will highlight the first occurrence of the phrase…look it over and then click find next and it will go to the next in that document until it gets to the end. (The easy way to do this is to simply hit Ctrl F). That’s how I discovered what I suspected from the outset…that these were not taken in context and that the poster had used bits of each official document to create something indicting that does not really exist and is not supported either by Church teaching or by the documents that the the site that he linked quotes from.
Context Is Everything! Out of context quotes from any source can make people think something is true that is not. That’s dishonest and misleading.
I have found that the Catholic Church can answer (and has answered) every question posed to her, and if we are willing to do just a little digging with a bit of common sense, we can offer those answers as well. Here’s a link to some articles right here on CA that will do what you need.Mary & the Saints. Always check The CA Library first when you begin research.
Pax tecum,
Hopefully it will help you speed up you read thorugh, as I know some of the Papal E. are rather long.

Dear Folks, I am a Catholic. I converted just as Vatican II was happening. I was taught that Mary is the supreme example of faith. She along with all departed saints offer prayers for us. We can ask those saints to take our prayers to Christ. Pretty simple.
But , what I’m seeing happening in The Church, Mary’s name being added to Jesus’ . I have heard people praying, saying , “I throw myself on the merciful arms of Mary.” I have seen what anyone not a Catholic would call Mary worship and this is one Catholic that is appalled by what I’ve seen and heard. I believe that if something looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck, it’s probably a duck! There is enough misunderstanding to go around ,on all sides, doesn’t scripture say to avoid even the appearance of sin? Duck Soup Anyone? Jesus is Lord! In His Grace, Budd

But we want to be careful with this thought process, because following it some would say that we should do away with the Eucharist as well, as it is idolotry. (As well as other things people claim the Church does that are in conflict with Scripture.)

First of all, we need to make sure that we are each individually to what the Church teaches.

Secondly, we need to acknowledge taht the Church endorses and sometimes encourages Marian Devotion as a means to bring us closer to God.

Thirdly, we need to be personally aware of devotions and expressions of piety that we hold personally and might divert us from God.

Fourth, we need to be careful to not judge what is another’s heart based on appearance alone. One person’s “improper devotion” might be another’s perfect expression of their love for God. If we see overt acts of improper devotion, out of Christian concern for our breathren, we should express our concern if we are personally close to this person and our comments will be heard in the spirit intended or otherwise inform the Pastor of what we have observed.

Hi Budd!

I’m glad that you are able to separate the misguided devotion of the few and the actual teaching of the Church! Some seem to have a hard time drawing that distinction.

In Christ,
Nancy 🙂

Hi Nancy, You got it! I do love the quote from St. Jerome( my patron ) thank You . In His Grace, Budd

alright, I have taken a look at some of the quotes from the webstie and did as CM said to (Thanks) and found some rather big misquotes. I am going to post the misquotes on here so eavryone can defend themshelves and others against this but, I was wondering where I could find some of the books on there so I can answer. Thanks.

During the Coronation of Mary as queen of heaven, Almighty God spoke thusly: “Nothing do we wish to concede to man that does not pass through thy hands.” Is it not possible that the best way to God is through those same hands? We do not worship a mediator.
Mary is the only perfect creature – Who could better plead our case?

Although I agree with [most] of your post, I just wanted to correct the [underlined] statement - Jesus is a mediator to the Father, and we DO worship Him. (I know what you meant though…)

😉

Catholics have a habit of " Gilding the Lily" .Adding unnecessaray titles to he BVM. which often leads to missunderstanding.

Thanks E.E.N.S. I should have finished the sentence withmediator with God.

Catholics have a habit of gilding the lily? My, my, quite the blanket generalization.

BTW, the actual phrase is “to gild the finest gold, to PAINT the lily”. Few people use the correct phrase, though. Probably they’d associate “painting the lily” with Donna Dewberry. . .
