bones_IV:Removed Ad hominem in quote. I believe that there are three persona or aspects of God. It’s like the three leave clover; one stem, three leaves. The trinity is reflected in nature reen 12, not just a doctrine.
Thanks for the info. I hope Catholic World Report is onCatholic World Report this month has a fascinating article about Hans Kung, the dissident theologian, formerly Catholic but condemned by the Vatican for teaching, among other things, syncretism (all religions are equally valid). I had no idea his career and our current Pope’s coincided so strongly in their earlier years, and then Fr. Ratzinger was a student of Kung
I started a wiki topic on Mary Ann Collins . If you’re able to provide any information as fairly as possible, that would be very helpfuCatholicconcerns.com is ran by a former nun by the name of Mary Ann Collins, who converted to Fundamentalist Protestantism and has made it her life’s crusade to bring as many Catholics out of the Church as possible. She is for the most part in the same school of thought as James White or Dave Hunt, and an avowed Sola Scripturist.
To defend the teachings means to subscribe to them. Removed offensive portion of post. I do not apologize for making this statement and I won’t back off either.people, don’t you understand, all REEN12 is saying is that she will defend the Catholic Church where people misrepresent her teachings…she never said she subscribed to her teachings, or else she would be Catholic…why are you attacking her Bones? back off, who are you to judge![]()
As far as I know she is a real person, here is her Bio from her website: catholicconcerns.com/Bio.htmlI started a wiki topic on Mary Ann Collins . If you’re able to provide any information as fairly as possible, that would be very helpfu
One question I’m personally asking is whether Mary Ann Collins is real or fictitious. If you have any data, please provide. Particularly, she admits that she did not take her vows. But, how did this information come out? Did she freely admit it? Does anyone know where she went to take her vows? Does anyone actually know her?
I think you might have hit the nail on the head. The clues are there: generic name, no locations, no details, the ridiculous stories. Now I feel like an idiot for thinking Collins was real. Are you basing it on her bio? I admit I have no proof. But I’ve read through her bio and I can’t shake the feeling that it leaves out the essential information and reads like a Jack Chick tract.
I made a list detailing some of the issues:
Everyone who claims she’s real points back to her biography as if that makes it real. Jean-Luc Picard of the Starship Enterprise also has a bio.
- She claims to be a former nun but refuses to state where she attended
- No where in her articles does she locate herself - even Jack Chick locates himself in California and he has a paranoia against the Catholic Church. None of her writing indicates paranoia against the Catholic Church.
- Her articles, particularly her biography, reads like a Jack Chick comic (this is subjective, I realize).
- Her website information is private and there is no address.
- She invites e-mail correspondance and personally replies.
- Her e-mail correspondance sounds like an apostolate to distribute information against Catholics where she always invites the correspondant to distribute her information.
- She is a prolific writer particularly for her age and demographic. She could be an exception, of course - I’ve met a couple. Although she provides no dates, she states she became Catholic when in college when the Baltimore Catechism was in effect as well as Latin Mass. The must be pre-Vatican II. So, I’m going to presume she is in her 60s.
- No one that I know of has admitted knowing Mary Ann Collins nor admitted being in a convent with her.
fair enough…however, to defend against misconceptions of what the Church teaches, does not mean to subscribe to them.To defend the teachings means to subscribe to them. Removed offensive portion of post. I do not apologize for making this statement and I won’t back off either.
Settle down, pal. reen12 is a friend of mine. She’s doing what you should be doing; making sure that when people attack the Church, they are actually attaking what the Church believes. You know the Bishop Sheen quote, or you should. To defend the teachings means to subscribe to them. Removed offensive portion of post. I do not apologize for making this statement and I won’t back off either.
