I will be going to Haiti in September to work on a reforestation and water conservation effort in Haiti.

One way many people can Be green for the Right reasons is helping fight desertification.

About 66% of all Haitians work in the agricultural sector, which consists mainly of small-scale subsistence farming.

Deforestation in Haiti is a severe environmental problem. In 1923, over 60% of Haiti’s land was forested; by 2006, less than 2% was. The most direct effect of deforestation is soil erosion. An estimated 15,000 acres topsoil are washed away each year. Erosion is also damaging to other productive infrastructure such as dams, irrigation systems, roads, and coastal marine ecosystems. The major problems affecting Haiti due to soil erosion is lower land productivity and severe droughts all of which eventually lead to desertification and increase the pressure on the remaining land and trees.

Desertification is a serious global problem. The worlds deserts are growing, and with them taking what was once usable land and making it uninhabitable. The Sahara Desert expands south an estimated 38 miles per year. Desertification is leading to further hardships in Haiti, a place already overwhelmed by extreme poverty. Reforestation gets at one of the root causes of desertification and isn’t just a treatment of the symptoms.

Thank goodness there is nothing from the UN - AGW camp that feeds “conspiracies”.

ALL of us Climate Realists are, after all, just “nutters”.

Remember this claim

“50 million climate refugees by 2010”
:In 2005, the United Nations Environment Programme predicted that climate change would create 50 million climate refugees by 2010. These people, it was said, would flee a range of disasters including sea level rise, increases in the numbers and severity of hurricanes, and disruption to food production.
The UNEP even provided a handy map. The map shows us the places most at risk including the very sensitive low lying islands of the Pacific and Caribbean.
OH oh…wait

THEY DIDN’T - you say???

Probably just an honest mistake again ]

Oh oh wait

Or is the UN AGW’ers trying to Hide the Decline of the decline???

An interesting read:

Barack Obama has read the book by Doris Kearns Godwin, the team of rivals, who by his own description is "a spectacular book on leadership, showing how Lincoln developed a diverse group of people who wanted to do with it, but they were competent. " In forming his cabinet, Obama is following the model of Abraham Lincoln, one of our greatest presidents, demonstrating a profound change from George Bush, who generally preferred the “Yes Men”, reflections on competence.
