It is not possible to properly respond to charges such as this without getting banned from the forum. Accusations of this type have been used so regularly and for so long that we no longer recognize how inappropriate they are. If the charges in that phrase were changed from racism, prejudice, and ignorance to arrogance, sanctimoniousness, and stupidity and hurled back the other way everyone would see the insult for what it is: juvenile name calling. The moderators should be no more tolerant of one form of insults than the other.

Since the topic of this thread is Catholicism and Immigration I just want to point out that there is no specifically Catholic solution. That is, these are practical issues that allow individuals to choose completely opposite solutions. There is no “moral” answer (although some solutions could be immoral). Nonetheless I have no doubt that the USCCB will come out with their own (personal) views on the subject.

Isn’t a sin for one person the same for another?

Are we all members of the Catholic Church or is their a seperate branch for Latin Americans that allows these people to ignore the 10 commandments and follow whatever rules their hearts desire?

I was removed for telling the truth. People may no like to hear it but if I remember correctly, their is still a thing called freedom of speech. We don’t sign our rights away at each website.

If the moderator had a legitamite reason for that banning in the beginning. As a lawyer could easily prove that I was not being a racist but the people answering my post accused me of that. Therefore I was banned. I don’t hold this website accountable for the rantings of others, but I should be treated fairly. This is a religious website after all.

I’m not sure what you’re asking. My sole objective (other than objecting to the insults) was to point out that neither those who favor open immigration nor those who would seal the borders can claim that theirs is the more moral solution. That is, the argument is not really about what is moral but about what is effective - the law of unintended consequences being what it is. Wanting to reach a certain goal doesn’t give one any insight in how best to achieve it … as any parent can tell you. With only a few exceptions, immigration - like parenting - is a practical debate, not a moral one.
