Coming to America illegal is immoral on many fronts. Illegal aliens are not like the Irish or German or Italians who came here LEGALLY. They are also not at all like Jesus, Mary and Joseph who fled to Egypt. The Holy Family fled for only a short time, under threat of mortal danger, and were only 3 people. Illegal aliens are 25,000,000 in number (over 1/5 the population of Mexico) are NOT running for their lives, and were not instructed by an Angel of God to leave. They come for mere economic gain and send any stimulus to Mexico, which is robbing my country of the real fruits of their labors.

For a precise example of how breaking the law in this regard harms the Body of Christ and its effect it on the social conscious, read Jack Cashill’s “What’s the Matter with California”, and you will see how Cardinal Mahoney from L.A. sought to befriend illegals and the very same group turned around and defeated an anti-abortion proposition. The Catholic moral teaching that no good fruits come from evil is the controlling moral doctrine here. In it’s essence, illegal aliens are stealing from hard working Americans who obey the laws, pay their taxes and don’t seem to get the breaks non-citizens do in their own country.

It is a very slippery slope, for if illegals don’t have to obey our laws, why should I? If invading a sovereign country is morally OK (I somehow doubt Canada would look too kindly on 20% or 60,000,000 Americans showing up in their country), then speeding wrecklessly, drunk driving, domestic abuse, stealing and doing drugs is OK too. Which is exactly what is wrong with America today: MORAL RELATIVISM. No bishop 50 years ago would be advocating an outright disregard for our nation’s sovereignty like local bishops are today… just another example of how agendas, and not TRUTH are hurtling the Church closer to oblivion.

Also, I am a veteran who fought in a war for MY COUNTRY. I did not put my life on the line so that a foreigner can reap the benefits of my sacrifice. For anyone to defend illegals breaking the law, it is a slap to all those veterans who have sacrificed for this nation.

Libertines love illegals because they represent an uneducated, uniformed proletariat voting block that will replace the children they abort and contracept on a daily basis. Satan loves people breaking the law, because more of his agenda is then passed.

Again the issue is not whether we support illegal immigration. It’s about liberalizing the immigration laws already put in place.

Did the colonisers - the first immigrants - come legally?

First of all, you are from Ireland (my family is originally as well) but this isn’t your issue.

Secondly, anyone who quotes the Archbishop of Canterbury, the biggest religious apostate to ever walk the face of the earth has no credibility when it comes to moral issues.

America NEEDS no more immigrants, it has matured. France, England and the rest of Europe would not accept 20,000,000 immigrants, America has no need. The law that says because Jaunita BROKE the law and illegally crossed and dumped her illegitimate child on my country’s fine soil, that makes them American, needs to be changed and updated. It is scandalous.

I started this thread. It wasn’t about America, it was, as the title says, about ‘‘Catholicism and Immigration’’.

The quote was about his opposition to abortion.
How is he that apostate? As a soon to be anglican, I find that offensive.

Anyway, where I live does not matter. If I agreed with you you would not make my location an issue, thus you are only pointing it out because you can’t answer my original question.

Oh, man, America needs as many immigrants as want to come and work.

Let them all in and give them social security numbers and get them started on paying for my eventual retirement.

Agnus Dei::confused: Wow! Who knew? Now there are 25 million immigrants here without papers? Last year, semi-educated guesses by federal immigration authorities said 12 million. And they are not all Mexican, just ask “La Migra” in Florida, Washington, or Minnesota. They come from every continent, and recently there seems to be more coming from the Andean areas of South America.

Taxes. It is a fact that uscrupulous employers pay low and withhold taxes none of which can be claimed by the undocumented workers because the employer simply keeps the money or it is remitted to the government using bogus Social Security cards. These workers are afraid to file 1040s.

How did the undocumented people defeat a pro-life proposition? They have no vote.

I presently live in an area populated by both US citizens of Mexican heritage–some going back two centuries–and undocumented Latinos. But our schools are being overcrowded by non-English speaking Asians from outside of the community—our tax dollars at work, except when the teachers are taking time off. Like this week, no school Monday and Friday, and half-day sessions on Wednesday and Thursday.

I, a US Army veteran too, was refused treatment by a doctor who had attended the state medical school on a student visa and a full scholarship. He proudly told me that he had simply stayed when he fininshed his degree and internship, thus was here illegally. He didn´t like serving older Americans and told me that he didn’t need my money because he’d engineered a full college scholarship at university in another state for his son. Oh, he wasn’t from México. He was from New Delhi.

Then the king will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.’
Then the righteous will answer him and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?’ And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.’
Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you accursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, a stranger and you gave me no welcome, naked and you gave me no clothing, ill and in prison, and you did not care for me.’
Then they will answer and say, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or ill or in prison, and not minister to your needs?’ He will answer them, ‘Amen, I say to you, what you did not do for one of these least ones, you did not do for me.’ And these will go off to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

**Pope Benedict on Immigration **
The fundamental solution [would be] that there is no longer any need to immigrate, that there are sufficient opportunities for work and a sufficient social fabric that no one any longer feels the need to immigrate. We all have to work for this objective, that social development is sufficient so that citizens are able to contribute to their own future…
In the short term, it’s very important above all to help the families. This is the primary objective, to ensure that families are protected, not destroyed. Whatever can be done, must be done. Naturally, we have to do whatever’s possible against economic insecurity, against all the forms of violence, so that they can have a worthy life.
I’d like also to say that although there are many problems, so much suffering, there’s also much hospitality [in America.]
Pope Benedict XVI, Apr 15, 2008
Catechism of the Catholic Church
2241 The more prosperous nations are obliged, to the extent they are able, to welcome the foreigner in search of the security and the means of livelihood which he cannot find in his country of origin. Public authorities should see to it that the natural right is respected that places a guest under the protection of those who receive him.
Political authorities, for the sake of the common good for which they are responsible, may make the exercise of the right to immigrate subject to various juridical conditions, especially with regard to the immigrants’ duties toward their country of adoption. Immigrants are obliged to respect with gratitude the material and spiritual heritage of the country that receives them, to obey its laws and to assist in carrying civic burdens.
"Discrimination based on sex, race, ethnicity, or age continues to exist in our nation. Signs of increased racial hostility poison our society. Such discrimination constitutes a grave injustice and an affront to human dignity. It must be aggressively resisted by every individual and rooted out of every social institution and structure. . . . Where the effects of past discrimination persist, society has the obligation to take positive steps to overcome the legacy of injustice. We support judiciously administered affirmative action programs as tools to overcome discrimination and its continuing effects.
“Racism is a particularly serious form of discrimination. . . . Racism is not merely one sin among many. It is a radical evil dividing the human family.”
Political Responsibility, p. 17, USCCB
Prayer for Migrants and Refugees
Lord Jesus, when you multiplied the loaves and fishes, you provided more than food for the body, you offered us the gift of yourself, the gift which satisfies every hunger and quenches every thirst! Your disciples were filled with fear and doubt, but you poured out your love and compassion on the migrant crowd, welcoming them as brothers and sisters.
Lord Jesus, today you call us to welcome the members of God’s family who come to our land to escape oppression, poverty, persecution, violence, and war. Like your disciples, we too are filled with fear and doubt and even suspicion. We build barriers in our hearts and in our minds.
Lord Jesus, help us by your grace,
  • To banish fear from our hearts, that we may embrace each of your children as our own brother and sister;
  • To welcome migrants and refugees with joy and generosity, while responding to their many needs;
  • To realize that you call all people to your holy mountain to learn the ways of peace and justice;
  • To share of our abundance as you spread a banquet before us;
  • To give witness to your love for all people, as we celebrate the many gifts they bring.
We praise you and give you thanks for the family you have called together from so many people. We see in this human family a reflection of the divine unity of the one Most Holy Trinity in whom we make our prayer: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Amen.

I went to my local town hall to conduct some business one day last week. I had reported a incident of a pick up truck being parked illegally on the land of a abandoned building that is next to my house. It had looked as though the truck was in an accident so I felt I better report it, which I did by phone.

The day I was at the town hall, I decided to check up on the report as even the police weren’t sure if it was their responsibility to go on private property and investigate since I wasn’t the owner of the property making the complaint.

I went up to the window of the police department to discover that 2 hispanic girls were in charge. They looked as though they might still be in high school. I told them all about the truck and wondered if anything was being done. They really didn’t have anything to say on the matter, which was really a minor thing to begin with. I left them by saying “Thank you” then walked away.

As I left I could hear them bust out laughing. They didn’t even care about what I had reported. Yet someone left these 2 little girls in charge. I suddenly realized that soon my town’s police force will be almost all hispanic. Since most kids in my town have friends who are gang members, wouldn’t that be the best place to put your buddy. They would be able to warn any gang members of the police coming to their area.

This is what an America influenced by an evil will be like in future.

Think glass half full mate. Who will know the workings of a gang members mind better than a reformed gang member?

That is assuming that they are gang members entering the police force and not merely Hispanic people who are the victims of a stereotype.

Racial stereotyping has no place in the christian life.

So what if police officers are of an ethnic minority?

I come from a place where stereotypes led to deaths.

Since they were both working at the police station, they were clearly not girls. Do you infantilize all women like that?

Oh, and welcome back;)

I took a look at your website. For someone with such high moral principles, you sure know how to shovel the BS.

Maybe you try politics.

After seeing the movie, “Elmer Gantry”, I associate anyone who makes a buck off of God with the pitiful losers that won’t defend their own country.

Have a nice day!

Again, welcome back! At least you are consistent :rolleyes:

Your not doing a very good job, boy!!!

They fell in London. Besides, what are you doing other than whining on the internet?

The boys I’ve worked with are not part of that percentage, they no longer contribute to the crimes. I know because I still know all of them, very well. Do you?

Oh, and don’t call me boy. For someone as racist as you it has negative connotations hearkening back to the days of slavery. Peter will be fine. Sir will also do.

Why don’t you hop over to France and see what the French did to people who collaborated with the enemy.

Those collaboraters had perfectly good reasons for what they did too! Profit! Gang membership will end when they are treated with the same contempt as an invader would be.

Countries will continue to be invaded until the world rises against these animals and remove them from the earth. Where were all these gangs 50 years ago? Before the US was invaded with drugs, these gangs only existed in small groups and were looked at by the average person as just a ridiculous fringe to normal society.

The rate of repeat offenders shows that being nice to these animals breeds more crime. One of the few successful prisons in the US was Alcatraz. They had an unbelivably low rate of returning prisoners because that prison didn’t treat the criminal like anything other than what he is. A criminal. No excuses. Even Al Capone received no special treatment.

If these gansters were quickly removed from society, the world would not be in the shape it is in today.

Building a whole industry around criminals to arrest them, judge them, house them, treat them, release them, and allow them to kill again so the process can be repeated so everyone will keep their high paying jobs is as dangerous to the public as just letting them roam the streets to terrorize at will.

You not part of the solution at all. Your just another link in the chain that feeds criminal behavior, sonny!

Peter, thank you for the work you are doing. I admit I’ve not done any work in this area, so I’m glad that someone is. God bless you and your work. My work is different, but we all should contribute what we can.
