Catholicism and Non-Catholic Marriage

I am a Catholoic. My first marriage was annuled. My current husband of 22 years is a non-Catholic who didn’t want to go through pre-marriage instruction through the Church so we were married in a Protestant Church. Does the Church recognize this marriage? Are there any repercussions because I was not married in the Catholic Church?

You are considered by the Church to not be married. As a Catholic you would have need a dispensation to marry in a Protestant Church. You should speak to a good Priest about arranging to Marry you. It would be a very simple ceremony, likely in the Priest’s office. You would also need Confession before the Marriage and should probably refrain from the Eucharist until the Marriage is completed.
