The Koran doesn’t limit Muslims to 4 wives as is widely believed, but sets no real limit.
Does that mean that the U.S. is actually the only “true Muslim” country?!? :bigyikes:…the remaining rights sound like ones which are also applicable to today’s ‘american women’…
glory be Jesus Christ!Ok
These so called ‘muslim’ country don’t even let the men vote, what makes anybody think they will let the women vote…
I’m not going to beat around the bush here. The reason that muslims over there don’t hold their feet to the fire is because muslims have become rather cowardly as of late. You would think that the fact that a grant into the highest level of heaven is given for speaking out against a tyrant gov’t is motivation enough. Guess not.glory be Jesus Christ!
actually, the sufferage in saudia arabia is adult males age 21 and older. so, if i am correct in understanding your comments, this means the saudis are in violation of islamic law. which then would beg the question of why other muslims do not appear to be holding their feet to the fire over it.
you’ll also have to excuse our misunderstandings when we read things like this from rueters: today.reuters.com/news/newsArticle.aspx?type=worldNews&storyID=2005-06-20T104317Z_01_N20102607_RTRIDST_0_INTERNATIONAL-KUWAIT-PARLIAMENT-WOMAN-DC.XML
which tells us that islamist ministers of parliment fought against the inclusion of a woman in kuwait’s parliment, that kuwaiti women have been stuggling to be involved politically for four decades (and could not take part in the recent municipal elections) and that it has been the us which has pressured middle eastern countries to open their systems to women.
we also have the shahrivar 1383 (september 2004) issue of bad jens badjens.com/pro-violations.html which features a protest against the violations of women’s rights in the iranian constitution.
given this information, it is difficult to see the ‘muslim world’s’ complete acceptance of, in the least, right #4 in your list.
thanks for listening, t
As author and historian, Regine Pernoud, asserts all these were the rights of women in the High Middle Ages. There were arranged proposals against the will of both the woman and the man: “One power fought against these imposed unions, and that was the Church; she increased the number of causes of nullity in canon law, never ceased to claim freedom for those who were pledged to each other and often proved rather indulgent in tolerating the rupture of those bonds.” (Regine Pernoud) I was only until the 12th century that women were to take the name of the husband. The 16th century brought about the demand for parental agreement for marriage, before then, if the man and woman wanted to marry, they could without their parents approval (still there were some consequences, as there are today, your parents can leave you out of the will).Muslim woman’s right
3.the right to be in a will and inherit whatever is being inherited
- the right to an education; every muslim man or woman is commanded by God to seek knowlegde even if you have to go to the ends of the earth.
- the right to own, buy, sell, inherit property.
I’m very tired right now, these are all I kind this of right now, someone esle please find the rest.
- the right to vote, take part in public office, run for or be nominated for public office( judgeship, ministry of whatevr, mayor, everything but leader of a nation(the reasons are for God to know and us to find out when we die)
- The right to say no in a marriage proposal
- The right to contest for divorce and the right to alimony for a set period of time
mwlusa.org/publications/positionpapers/divorce.html- a muslim woman does not take the last name of her husband, she is her own person and he is his own
- The right to work and when you work by islamic law your money is yours and nobody can touch it unless you will it.

takeninhand.com/node/434As Regine Pernoud points out in her excellent book ‘Women in the Age of the Cathedrals’, women actually had more rights in 1300 than they did in 1900.
Islam is just another heresy of Christianity (Catholicism). IMHO, it is a branch of Arianism, which asserts Christ was not God/divine. Islam did well in Arian lands, the Arians were susceptible to the notion of Jesus being a good prophet, not God.THAT STATEMENT THAT CATHOLICISM CAUSED ISLAM IS A FABRICATION BY FUNDAMENTALIST CHRISTIANS IN ORDER TO DISCREDIT THE CATHOLIC CHURCH. THE CATHOLIC CHURCH DID NOT FOUND ISLAM AS YOU SHOULD KNOW!
Yes, I have this book and found it a fascinating read. Well worth buyingI visited a wonderful Catholic Book Store this afternoon and found a book I’d never seen before: Inside Islam: A Guide for Catholics. Written in a question & answer format and very easy to read. If you’re a fast reader, you’ll get through it in a few hours.

- The right to say no in a marriage proposal
FATUMA,wa salam
YesFATUMA,
Is there a right to choose freely who to marry, not just to say no to a marriage proposal?
