was looking for a map that shows the distribution of British Catholics geographically - I was curious to know how many live in each region. I couldn’t find that (if anyone can suggest where I could find this is would be grateful!).
The Pew Forum might be a good place to start, I think, though I can’t see anything there that exactly matches what you’re looking for.

thank you, the article you shared was an interesting read all the same ☺️

I reckon the reason why European Catholics and Protestants get on better is because of how secular many countries are. It’s good to have people that don’t treat you like a weirdo for following a faith even if their faith is different. You can still pray together and do good works together.

I would say there are a lot of problems in the Church of England. There’s an informal distinction between high and low Anglican churches. I was happy as a protestant at a high Anglican church, but honestly i found the lack of reverence in low Anglican churches to be repulsive. There was one church service that sticks in my mind where they tried to do an ‘inclusive service’ so rather than a Eucharist, they passed around some bread on a tray and bits were falling on the floor as this happened etc. That’s just a minor example, they have big splits on big issues. I think the church of England will see a mass exodus of its high anglican members to Catholicism in my life time.

I am not sure if you are looking for post WW2 consensus which would give you detailed information. If so, the next consensus was done in the Uk in 1952 and will not be published in full until 2052. There may be stat data somewhere though,

If you are looking for maps done over recent years in the UK highlighting Catholics in the UK
Perhaps looking here Church Attendance in Britain, 1980-2015 |

According to the 2001 census, there were 41 million Christians in Great Britain, making up almost three quarters of the population (72%). This group included the Church of England, Church of Scotland, Church in Wales, Catholic, Protestant and all other Christian denominations.

How many Catholics are there in Britain?
How this 41 million breaks down is harder to work out. The Church of England says about 26 million people have been baptised, the Catholic Church claims just over four million members in England and Wales - and another 695,000 in Scotland. Out of a total population of about 60 million, that means about one in 12 people in Great Britain is Catholic.
