Catholicism is true; my reasons why

Know this first of all, that there is no prophecy of scripture that is a matter of personal interpretation - 2 Peter 1:20

But so many interpretations conflict; how are we to distinguish between which is true? Which is false?

2 Thessalonians 3:6 commands us (God’s Word) to stay away from those who have not held on to the traditions handed down by the Apostles. If God’s Word commands, there must be a way to fulfill that command. Where are we to look?

To you? Do you teach truth? How am I to distinguish between what is true and what is not true? And what makes my distinction any different than the next guy’s?

In the Early Church, I could ask an Apostle. What are we to do now? Keep on misinterpreting God’s Word?

How are we to obey the command to hold fast to the traditions handed down to us by letter and oral traditions (2 Thessalonians 2:15) ?

Look to Christ’s Church (if it is Jesus’ Church, Jesus Who builds, it must be teaching truth; otherwise on those points that it is not teaching the truth it is not the Church teaching. Jesus is the Master Builder.) which is the pillar and foundation of truth (1 Tim 3:15), the Church which the gates of hell will not prevail against (Matthew 16:18-20) though satan (the father of lies) will try.
If satan is the father of lies, does he not prevail if he gets on lie into the Church’s teaching? And because it is Jesus’ Church, it must be infallible; else on whatever point a person speaks in error, they are seperate from Christ on that point.

So we know the truth by looking to the Church; Jesus’ bride. This is Jesus’ idea.

It’s His Church. Not ours. He builds correctly and truly. We don’t. He is truth. We lean towards lies.

So stand firm upon the rock (Matthew 16:18) and don’t let go. That rock has been grafted into Christ, the cornerstone.
Jesus protects His Church from error; She is His bride.

Wouldn’t you protect your bride?

Although I agree with you 100% Im not sure this is what this verse is meant to imply. I think it refers more to the fact that biblical prophecy was not the product of mere men but of the Holy Spirit.

These verses helped convince me that private interpretation is very dangerous

**Acts 8:30-31 **
And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, “Understandest thou what thou readest?” And he said, “How can I, except some man should guide me?” And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.

2 Peter 3:15-16
[speaking of Paul] He talks about this subject in all his letters. Some things in his letters are hard to understand. Ignorant people and people who aren’t sure of what they believe distort what Paul says in his letters the same way they distort the rest of the Scriptures. These people will be destroyed.
 
Private interpretation of Scripture, combined with human ambition, caused the Protestant Reformation, and the growth of the cults and sects in the 19th century.

We couldn’t ask for better evidence of this than what we see in the world today.

I feel like if the Protestant Reformation had produced only a single entity at odds with the Catholic Church, and that entity had gone forward through the years intact, then it would deserve some consideration. The fact that the Protestants immediately began splitting up, and continue to split up today, with no authority apart from the cult of personality and dozens of competing Biblical interpretations, to me, proves that the Reformation was error.
 
Sola Scriptura + Private interpretation = many problems, the rise of cults, and many denominations that have conflicting claims but all claim to have the full truth.
 
Indeed, but why is the Catholic Church still alive and well if it were not true? 2,000 years!
