Catholicism, Modernism, and the Latin-Rite

I’m curious to know what the Catholic Church’s stance on modernism is. Is the mass changed at all because of Vatican II? What about from the change from latin to common languages-besides the language, is the mass changed?

Also, I remember Europe was chock-full of churches and cathedrals that do their services in Latin. This doesn’t seem to be the case here…I’m wondering if anyone would be able to provide me with a resource for finding Latin-Rite parishes in Washington Sate.

Not sure where in this Evergreen state that you live but if you don’t mind driving there are a couple of choices that are open to you. Firstly, Seattle has an FSSP parish that is temporarily located with St Alphonsus in Ballard (north Seattle) They have been named the North Americam Martyr’s parish and can be found through an internet search. FSSP is in full communion with Rome.

In SW Washington we have a Dominican low Mass once a montth near Toledo, WA. There is also a weekly Sunday TLM at St. Birgitta’s near Portland, OR.

If you are not against SSPX (not in full Communion but not sedevacantist either) then there is a weekly Mass in Everett, WA, one in Post Falls, ID., and one in Portland, OR.

If you live on th east side of the state, then google search for Latin Mass locations. There are a couple of them plus an FSSP parish in Couer d’lane, ID.

BTW, the term Latin Rite is applied to NO as well as EF Masses.

If you are interested in Byzantine Divine Liturgy there are several locations across the state.

Its an exciting time to be Catholic.

What do you mean by “modernism”?

St. Pius X defined modernism in a particular way in his famous oath against it, but many traditionalists (and I don’t mean only Latin Catholics here) seem to use “modernism” to mean “Anything I don’t like.”
