Catholicism versus other religions

How do we know we are right? I know there’s older religions and thousands of other religions and all of their followers are equally devoted. If everyone believes they are right how do we know we are correct. For reference I am agnostic and returning as a catholic. I was just in a museum and seeing artifacts ranging from 2500 years ago to now it’s sowmthing on my mind.
 
This is not a catholic bashing thread I am looking specifically for rationale on why Catholicism is right not why others are correct.
 
Other religions are, it seems to me, either based on simple mythology (eg. “gods” like Shiva/Ra), or based on actual historical people who were simply not God (eg. Buddha/Confucius/Mohammed).

Christianity is based on the historical reality of Jesus Christ; God among us. I won’t get into why Catholicism specifically is true instead of Protestantism; this site is teeming with threads that deal with that issue.

This is actually a really convincing argument it is oddly unique that our God assumed human form. Thank you I hope you have an excellent evening!
 
Because we have Fatima, Lourdes, Guadalupe, Hundreds of in corrupt saints, padre pio, miracles, eucharistic miracles, the fact so many people have had a near death experience and have met Jesus, there is so much evidence Jesus existed, miracles from the rosary etc well it’s enough to satisfy me.
 
All of these are tremendous signs especially the Eucharistic miracles!

It’s been said by Blessed Anne Emmerich in her Biblical Revelations that in ancient times many demons were there behind the scenes, encouraging people to create many different religions in order to confuse people. This is always what I think of when I get a feeling of slight doubt.
 
That would actually make a lot of sense cause demons could influence the natural world and many other Gods are observations of nature!
 
I was a very hardcore militant atheist for a long time, close to a decade. Over the past year and some change I have been slowly coming around to believing in God again, mostly due to the recent birth of my now 1 year old daughter.

I was raised protestant. I listened to a Baptist preacher quite a bit but it just wasn’t as fulfilling as I was hoping it would be. I prayed to God for a sign of which path I needed to take now that I was back headed the right direction. Within days I received a postcard in the mail about a statue of Our Lady of Fatima touring my area. I did not sign up for it or sign up for anything online. I specifically joined these forums after the fact to discuss it. Neither me or anyone in my family or my wife’s family has ever been Catholic. Nobody else on my street got the postcard in the mail.

I think that statue passed around my grandparents house when I was a kid! How absolutely incredible! God bless you!

We don’t. 100% anyway. That is just being honest.
Depends which smart people you trust. I trust people like Peter Kreeft, Bishop Robert Barron and Thomas Merton.
A lot of other factors such as being raised Catholic. It seemed to contribute to the love in our family. But I guess my parents were just extraordinary people too.
Also by process of elimination, sola scriptura is too narrow. Catholic is broader, allows for varied perspectives. I respect that. Oh and Buddhism was too cold for me, too lonely and the danger of you becoming your own God, since there is no deity.

I personally find the question unhelpful and ultimately unanswerable in any meaningful way.
The more important question is “is it right for me”.
 
Ahem, Buddha never claimed to be a god - how could he, he thought the concept was mythological.
