Can’t believe the garbage I heard on one of the Christian radio stations last night …

Caught the last couple minutes of a show by Raul Ries with Calvary Chapel Golden Springs. He was saying the Catholic Church uses witchcraft, like the incense & candles that are burning. And the Church uses chicken blood on the alters.

Probably one of the Jack Chick-type wierdos.
Although I know how infuriating having lies spread about you can be, my best advice is to laugh at this nutjob.
Either his IQ is equivalent to room temperature in Celsius (about 20), or it’s a bad joke.

Did you point out that this is totally false?

And that it’s a sin to bear false witness against your neighbor, even if your neighbor IS Catholic?

Chicken blood?! C’mon! It’s TURKEY blood! lol

I know there are a ton of these ppl out there…let’s just pray for them and try to live lives that preach an awesome-Catholic-bird-bloodless-message.

There’s blood on our altars all right - the Most Precious Blood of Christ.

So are those angels from the Book of Revelation practicing witchcraft with golden censers in Heaven?

Where do people come up with this stuff?

Could be they’re confusing it (deliberately or accidentally, who knows?) with Santeria. I lived in a neighborhood in L.A. where some people were practicing Santeria. There was this ‘botanica’ that sold Catholic votive candles (with the Sacred Heart, Mary, etc.) and I vividly remember seeing dead, bloody chickens on their doorstep on more than one occasion, early in the morning.

I can see how someone unfamiliar with Catholicism might see that, with all the legitimate Catholic paraphenalia in the window (candles, rosaries, incense, etc.) and think the worst.

Satan is alive and well and working his evil garbage in this world. Proof positive of that right here.

This piqued my interest enough to download the archived podcast from yesterday. MP3 here while it lasts. He is indeed confused with santaria.

Here is a transcript of the end of Raul Ries’ episode (starting at 20:53 mark):*[T]he thing which is sacrificed by heathens is sacrificed to demons and not to God. Notice [Paul] explains it. And I do not want you to have fellowship with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot partake of the Lord’s table and the table of demons or do we provoke the Lord to jealousy or are we stronger than He. Now maybe not here in America but maybe not more in America (sic) because of all the Latins that come from Central America and South America and Mexico. We have what we call santaria. Or what we call “white witchcraft”. And that is practiced in the Catholic Church. Believe it or not. You’re dealing with the supernatural in the burning of the incense and the candles and then the laying hands and doing the chanting and then the (transis?) and the calling of demons up from hell. And some even kill chickens and the blood of chickens or animals are used to sprinkle on the altar. In Brazil, man, this is big time. And I think it’s important to understand that we’re not putting anybody down, but we are putting the system down because the system is not biblical. You see.*And then he followed that with words that I completely agreed with… People are in darkness. People are blind from the knowledge of the truth. This is what they have been taught all their life.

I think even Satan might roll his eyes in utter frustration at the sheer absurdity of the allegation originally referred to.

I was thinking the same thing that they were confusing it with Santeria. But I think the “confusion” is deliberate.

Many thanks for this transcript !!! 👍

I’ll copy it in my email to the radio station’s GM.

The prophecy in Malachi 1:11 must fall into that category to:

For from the rising of the sun to its setting my name is great among the nations, and in every place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for my name is great among the nations, says the Lord of hosts.

Chicken blood ? I haven’t heard that one. By the sound of it someone is trying to make out that the CC worships the devil - that might explain the chicken.

The rest of it sounds very familiar. It’s rubbish even so.

I was thinking the same thing that they were confusing it with Santeria. But I think the “confusion” is deliberate.

Not so much as confusion, I suspect, as thinking that Santeria “counts as” fully Catholic - the reason being, that the CC does not show by its conduct that it rejects Santeria utterly. Or some such thinking.

I also heard a radio program that was all about the Catholic Church being the anti- Christ. He provedit by reciting scripture passages. I can never understand how someone can take scripture out of context, then interpret it to their liking.

Just wondering, but how many people really think that? I’m assuming evangelicals,or at least the snake handlers. I have heard whisperings of some mainline churches making similar statements.****
