why is catholicism the best and the right form of christianity?

Since the answer to your question entails quite a lot of reasons and I am uncertain that I would be the right person to tell you exactly the correct answer, I will suggest that you read Upon This Rock by Stephen Ray. This book is by a man who used to be Baptist and after trying to prove how Catholics are wrong, became a Catholic himself because he found out that Catholics are right. 😉
It’s very intriguing stuff. I hope you read it. It will help a lot. This guy has done his research. 🙂

It’s like Highlander. There can be only one.
To add to what Nathan was saying, if you are a non-Catholic Christian, eventually the Catholic Church will chop off the head of your denomination and steal its power… 😉

Seriously, the Catholic Church claims that Jesus, while on Earth, founded one visible Church which cannot fail. This Church, we believe, survives today and is the Catholic Church. All other Christians are only imperfectly united to the Church which Jesus intended all believers to be a part of.

Hey doke,

If you find watching and listening helpful for learning (I like reading best) you could watch:
Scott Hahn’s Journey to Catholicism.
Before determining that I had to become Catholic a friend lent me a VCR tape of Dr. Hahn’s conversion story. These videos (there are six parts) are in the form of an interview.
Some of your questions may be answered here.

I don’t recall what the videos all explain, but I would boil down the answer to the fact that Jesus established ONE Church before He ascended into heaven.
He specifically picked St. Peter to be the rock upon which His Church would be built. That Church has continued to exist, physically not just spiritually, on earth to this very day. Through His Church Jesus continues to be physically present and feeds us His Body, Blood, Soul & Divinity at every Mass.

Hello and welcome! 🙂

I’m a convert to Catholicism so maybe I can be of special help to you.

I have only gotten about 5 hours of sleep today so I’m a bit tired and I can’t really give a long post of all the endless reasons why Catholicism is the perfect religion but I can give you some links that I think you should read. I may make a more heartfelt post later. 🙂

These are in no order:

Baptism
I see that you’re Christian. You most likely have already been validly baptized but these links should interest you nonetheless:

Confession
One of the most beautiful gifts of grace available to Catholics. I had my first Confession just today and it’s wonderful.

Anointing of the Sick
I think this is one Sacrament that has been lost totally in Protestant denominations.

The Most Blessed Sacrament the Eucharist
Probably the best part of the Catholic Church. Jesus Christ our Lord is truly present in the “bread” and “wine” of Communion. It’s truly Jesus. You’ll get that nowhere else in the world. No other church or religion can provide this.

The Internet was my biggest help, guide, and resource when I was converting to Catholicism. Read and learn about the Church! That’s my best advice for figuring out why Catholicism is so great. Those are the things that attracted me to the Church and keep me coming back for more. Of course there a bunch of other things too…even little things like Holy Water make me happy I’m Catholic.

As stephe1987 said, Church history is a big one. Look into that. The Catholic Church was founded by our Lord Jesus Christ. All other churches are man made and imperfect. The Catholic Church is infallible. Also check out Catholic morality. That is another thing that helped me feel comfortable converting to Catholicism. The links above should help you understand the Sacraments and teaching and why we believe what we do. The Catholic Church contains the fullness of Truth and that’s what every person needs. 🙂

Some people can accept information such as these other posts are giving you, while others can’t accept anything until they see things for themselves. I have just started my first theology course in Catholic Theolgy, it is an intro course and it is called “Theology of the Church” In the very first lesson I was taught something that I feel is very pertinent to this conversation. The professor gave the analogy of a stain glass window. If you were to walk down the sidewalk and up to a Catholic church to study the windows, you would not be overly impressed. They are opaqe, dark, formless, and sometimes grimy, they don’t offer much to marvel at. However, if you go the extra yard and enter the Church and see the windows from the inside, you will see a totally different picture. From the inside, the windows are bright, colorful, and beatifully artistic. It is very hard to learn the Truth of the Church when studying it from the outside. Obviously you have to start somewhere, but somethings can’t be fully understood until you experience them.

God bless,

John

So many good answers so far. I heartily agree that the best course is to read, or listen to, either Scott Hahn or Steven Ray. Both are converts, both are very articulate and, while I don’t know about Steven Ray, I do know that Scott Hahn was a Ordained minister holding a stong Calvinist theology.

Another testimony that you might find helpful is Dr Alex Jones, a formal Pentacostal minister who not only converted himself, but brought half of his congregation with him…
There is a nice 5 part video on You-Tube HERE

I hope that this and other videos that you might select from right hand column will aid in answering your question far better than we probably could here.

Peace

i’d say we are the only church that has a proven connection to the apostles, so the church are decedents of the apostles

It seems to me, the question to ask is,

who would think they could start an organization opposed to the Catholic Church that Jesus started, and think Jesus would approve?

Especially since scripture condemns division and those who cause it.

It is the fullness of the one who said “I am the Way, the Truth and the Life”.

The Church is the fullness of “the Truth!”

In the Church I find all the pieces of the puzzle just fit. As a former Protestant I only had som of the puzzle pieces…even as a child listening to adult bible studies and adults talking about the the baptist faith, I read my Bible and even then knew there was something different, bigger, better, unified, totally Christ’s out there.

Little Kathy Flores 48 years ago living next door who used to spout her Baltimore catechism to me. What a wonderful little evangelist she was – she planted seeds in my that came to fruition many years later. I hope God richly blesses her and her family wherever they are now.

That’s amazing that even back then as a Baptist, you rememberd the name Baltimore Catechism.

I still think it’s a wonderful Catechism. Especially for giving people quick simple answers and definitions on matters of faith. catholicity.com/baltimore-catechism/
