Catholics and renewal of the lay vocation

This was an interesting Op/Ed piece in this mornin’gs Washington Examiner:

I do agree that it is laudable for laypersons to “step up” and serve the needs of their communities and parishes. However, I wonder if this doesn’t draw a light on a possible blurring of lines between laypersons and the clergy. To wit,

Acting as chief executive officer of her parish, Smith’s work encompasses pastoral counseling and leading prayer services as well as personnel decisions and strategic planning. And she is responsible not only for Catholics in her parish but for ecumenical work with other faith groups in the area as well.

Yes, it will be interesting to see how things play out.

I think there are some who do want to “blur the lines”, but not all. Catechesis is definitely called for.

No clues about what was said. Who is saying and why.

We know that we have a shortage of priests. The solution is not by humans efforts and changes by given certain responsibilities that only belong to priests and religious but to repent and admit that we have greatly offended God and not to continue in error and seek worldly solutions for the troubles of the Church. Repentance is the only thing that is going to save us.
